(CNN) —Donald Trump is taking his colorful campaign to Nashville on Saturday, where he will court a constituency that some say he is tailor-made for: the tea party.
He will compete in a presidential straw poll and address the National Federation of Republican Assemblies, a group that boasts it was "the tea party before there was a tea party."
Trump's appearance is highly anticipated at the conservative gathering: As a candidate, he's hitting the same notes -- anger at conventional politics, contempt for Washington and distrust of special interests and lobbyists -- that propelled the tea party movement in 2010.
With his fiery rhetoric and utter disdain for Washington, the billionaire real estate mogul has already captured the interest of many tea partiers, including former vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, who praised him for having the "guts to say it like it is."

I was chatting this AM with a black gentleman who is a regular at a Republican breakfast I go to. We were chatting afterwards, and he offered a comment that bears on this. He has lots of family in NY and Chicago, and of course they’re almost all Democrats. He says several of them have already said they would vote for Trump!
There’s something big happening here, folks.

It's too bad most more people don't understand what it takes to be successful.
I like Trump because he is a plain talker. But I am concerned that he simply does not have the street creds that a person like Ted Cruz certainly has. Unless I hear from Trump a precise and clearly stated dedication to conservative values, I am voting for Ted Cruz all the way.

If they’re in the tea party, they are, by definition, not held captive by the GOPe.
Ted and Trump are unlikely to come head to head. Whichever one is last standing should get your vote.

Have you looked into the man’s past? He has recently favored and espoused Obama-like policies. He’s all over the map on key topics and only a few years ago was a Democrat. You won’t have a clue what you are voting for, but if you’re ok w that, fine. To each his own. Just try to tamp down your rudeness. Or head over to DU.
The Obama's have made America as racist as the days of Jim Crow Laws which the Democrats wrote! They were the activists for segregation; they are responsible today for keeping the American Negro on their welfare plantations.
