A person of interest is in custody after the deadly ambush of a Harris County sheriff's deputy, fatally gunned down without warning Friday night while filling up his patrol car at a northwest Harris County gas station.
We've learned the person of interest is inside the Harris County Sheriff's Office in east Houston and continues to be questioned in the the case.
No one has been charged and the search continues for the suspect.
Deputy Darren Goforth, 47, has just left an accident scene when he stopped by a gas station on Telge and West Road. As he was pumping gas, a man approached him from behind, said nothing and fired multiple shots. Once the deputy fell to the ground, the suspect fired more shots. Deputy Goforth was pronounced dead on the scene.
An intense manhunt covered Harris County for hours overnight. At about 2:30am, authorities converged on a home on Crystal Lake in Copperfield, led there by a tip. The focus of the investigation is on the red pickup truck in the home's driveway. The person of interest was taken into custody at what's said to be his mother's house. His identity has not been released.
The man's mother -- who didn't want to show her face or give her name -- tells Eyewitness News her son is innocent. She said, "My son is innocent. I was in the house with him, so when that happened, my son was home."

We will learn more about this one as time goes on...but there’s just too much of it, and with race baiters and riot-mongers like Sharpton, Farrakahn, JAckson, and Obama egging it on...well, it is a very bad thing.
IMHO, he should be. There is no doubt in my mind that the man is 1) whacked out, and 2) full of hate and inciting violence.
They need to find a way...at the very least like they ultimately got to the mob...to take him down and throw away the key.
We just need men of principle, white and black, to serve justice and fulfill their oaths to the constitution.

The blacks I knew in the 1957 - 1961 Army Security Agency fit right in, were part of the team and did well while on duty. In off duty Japan, they went their separate ways and did whatever they preferred to do. There was never any racial incidents that I knew of.
One qualifier; These ASA members were all fairly high IQ types, many with some college under their belts or even with degrees. Everything was as smooth as silk.
