I had to stop for gas this morning on the way in. My head was on a swivel. I hope they find this animal and hang it from a tree.

If not packing, then even just hollering could help.
If packing, hollering first, getting an officer's attention, and pointing, before drawing (if you have to) might be good to consider.
I travel a lot and when I gas up, I put my back to my vehicle and my hand on my weapon and, of course, gas up with the other. And, like you said, head on a swivel.
