MUSIC FOR POPS WALLERIN’

Delibes: Pizzicato Polka from “Sylvia”

This is from Delibes’ second ballet, a story from Greek mythology. The cute little piece shows up in pops concerts. The video is hilarious.

Just a funny factoid:

In “Citizen Kane”, the opera portrayed when Kane tried to push his girlfriend into stardom was “Lakme”. LOL!

Certain operas disappeared from the global repertory after World War II. One was “Lakme” and the other was “Martha.”

Sorry for my absence - this fossil I'm posting on is about ready to be returned to the primordial static from which it arose. Ergo, I had to reboot, and during the time lost from this esteemed Company due to that exercise, I had a nice pipe - my own blend of Latakia and Perique, dwelt over a long dram of Glen Moray and solved the New York Times Sunday Crossword puzzle.

Music to follow - in keeping with the VJ Day theme of last Friday, I'm featuring Der Bingle this evening.
