Tropical Storm Erika May Weaken or Collapse Saturday, NHC Says
Perhaps much ado about nothing.
“Perhaps much ado about nothing.”
It usually is. Don’t know about up there, but the joke down here is you know if you’re going to be okay if the weatherman on TV is fully dressed. If he still has his blazer on everything will be okay. If he’s taken his blazer off things are looking dicey, but probably will still be okay. But, if he’s got his blazer off and shirt sleeves rolled up you’re in for a whallopin’.
But the bay area counties are already saturated with widespread flooding.
Even Polk County is saturated.Won't take much to become real serious, real fast.
A heavy rain event at this point is approximately equal to a Cat2, perhaps Cat3, on the anticipated damage level.
I would very much prefer a fast moving Cat1, instead of a slower, heavy rain producing tropical storm right now.
Either way, I expect the power might be out for a few days next week.
So to all my fellow Florida FReepers, fill up your gas tanks, lay in a weeks worth of bottled water/medicine/pet food/toilet paper, etc supplies, and plan to eat your frozen foods this weekend. Save all the dry/canned goods for later...
It won't hurt, and if not needed this week, it could be next week.
We are way too wet right now to ignore this storm.
Now 75 miles south of Gitmo, Cuba. Winds at 40 MPH moving WNW at 20 MPH. Looks like it’s taking the most southern tracks of the models. Definitely getting plenty of shear. Center is now hard to define.
