The Mexican government is warning that Texas denial of birth certificates for U.S. children born here to undocumented immigrants stands to imperil the relationship between Mexico and the Lone Star State.
The concern was raised in an amicus brief filed Monday evening to lend support to immigrants parents who sued Texas after being denied birth certificates for their U.S.-born children, even after showing their matrículas, the ID cards issued by the Mexican consulate to undocumented immigrants.
Mexico says the practice stands in stark contrast to the historical practice among countries to accept passports or other forms of ID to issue birth certificates.
[It] not only jeopardizes their dignity and well-being, but could threaten the unique relationship between Mexico and Texas, the Mexican government said in a brief tied to a lawsuit filed against the state by Texas Civil Rights Project and Texas Rio Grande Legal Aid.
The lawsuit, the Texas Tribune reported, was filed on behalf of six U.S. citizen children and their undocumented parents, who came from Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala. Other groups since have joined the suit.
A main point of contention is the all-out refusal at some county registrars offices to accept as a valid form of ID anything short of a U.S. visa or consulate ID card, the Tribune said.

Push came to shove long ago.
The problem is, it’s been Mexico doing all the pushing while Bush and the rest did their best not to be insensitive to that corrupt country, at our expense.
Mexico needs to be slapped so hard they end up on the southern tip of South America. This is a case of the tail wagging the dog. They think they should dictate US policy and meddle in US internal affairs.
So, these anchor babies born to Mexican citizens here illegally are subject to the jurisdiction of Mexico aafter all! Therefore, the 14th amendment does not apply to these children.
They send back welfare, disability money and ss payments as well.
Same exact thing happened in LA and all of our big cities....All that under Republican Bush and friends.
¡Si, HorHay RRRRRamos toll us that, lass night, amiga! Fool deesclosure, and all...por que, he ees a Yournalist.
Ted Cruz invites Donald Trump to speak at anti-Iran deal rally at Capitol

Sen. Ted Cruz has invited fellow Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump to speak at a rally against the Iran nuclear agreement in Washington, according to the senators campaign.
The rally will be held at the Capitol and sponsored by Tea Party Patriots, Center for Security Policy, and the Zionist Organization of America, according to the campaign. The date, time and exact location havent been finalized.
Trump told reporters in South Carolina on Thursday afternoon that he and Cruz were planning an event protesting the deal in Washington. The Daily Beast previously reported that the two campaigns were mulling joint events, and the Washington Post reported that Cruz offered to take Trump on a tour of Texas border with Mexico.
While other Republican candidates have taken shots at Trump and his inflammatory comments about women, Hispanic immigrants and Sen. John McCain, Cruz has praised the real estate mogul for focusing on illegal immigration and border security.
Send Elmer Gantry aka Glenn Beck down with another truck load of teddy bears. That’ll fix things.
Thanks! It gets better for Trump/Cruz all most by the hour!
“Remember the Alamo!!!!!”
Chupa mi culo!
heck with a wall - just two barb-wire fences about 1 mile apart and in between packed with various kinds of land mines, anti-tunneling traps. Oh, and put this on the Mexican side - no need to use our land for this. Phalanx gun turrets and radar for anything trying to fly over - just set them on auto fire.
Yep. The truth is out there now. Legal US Citizens of Mexican descent like Trump. LOL!
The party’s over, go on home now.
Mythical creature (Chupaverga) sighted in Mexican capitol.
I’ll bet Joe Straus is down at the San Antonio Mexican Consulate office right now grovelling and licking the Consulate General’s shoes abjectly apologizing for Texas.
For non-Texans, Straus is the GOPeunuch Speaker of the House and all around buttboy for Texas Demorats.
BTW, Texas has ELEVEN Mexican Consulate offices.
In a just world the media would be asking:
1. Why do your citizens have to cross the border to find opportunity, and in many cases just to have the simple necessities in life?
2. What steps is your government taking to help these people, and to help Mexico move forward economically?
3. When politicians in Mexico see Mexican citizens dying while trying to illegally enter the US, does that not make you embarrassed? Does that not make you feel some responsibility and guilt for failing to provide a hopeful enough environment for your own citizens such that they don't feel compelled to take these risks - even with their children? Do you not feel shame?
4. Do you think it is fair that the US citizens are paying the bills for medical care, education, and social welfare of your citizens?
5. Why do you expect the US to do what you do not do on your southern border, and why do you treat the endogenous people of Chiapas, and the citizens of Central and South American countries so badly when they enter your country?
6. Do the children of Central and South American citizens who come into Mexico illegally receive automatic citizenship?
7. What are you doing to eradicate Mexican drug lords, and why do you not accept responsibility for all the hurt that these people cause?
7. Is it OK with you if Americans come over the border and vote in your elections?
The list goes on, but someone has got to start pointing the finger at the hypocrites in the Mexican government.
If we must take their citizens, we should get their land.
