In an op-ed in the Washington Post, two former Obama administration officials urged for Israel to be provided with bunker-buster bombs, in order to be able to make a credible threat against Iran if that country gets too close to developing a nuclear device.
Dennis Ross, a former Middle East envoy, and David Petraeus, who directed the CIA after commanding US forces in Iraq and Afghanistan, wrote that the bunker-busters would be an effective "firewall" against Iranian nuclear development, especially in 15 years, when the agreement between Tehran and Western powers expires.
"Now is the time for the Iranians and the world to know that if Iran dashes toward a weapon, especially after year 15, that it will trigger the use of force," the two wrote. "At that point, it would be too late for sanctions to preempt an Iranian nuclear fait accompli."

and a dozen or so of the delivery aircraft.
Ya don’t hang those things under F-16’s......
Neat trick, seeing how only the B-52 and the B-2 can carry the MOP. . .
Given Obama’s clear hatred of Israel, it’s far more likely he’d give them to Iran.
We haven’t agreed to anything yet.
The agreement proposes US and international aid to Iran to prevent Israeli counter-measures to Iran’s nuke program.
Likely Iran’s nuke program has already been hardened against likely bunker busters.
Iran's western president. Israel isn't getting squat on his watch. As a matter of fact, in his last year in office he will act overtly against them.
They already have them....
**********************************************
You would think Petraeus would have known Israel had them already (?)
We should also announce that for every Israeli citizen killed in terror attacks, $5 million dollars in aid will be given to Israel along with an equal cut in “humanitarian” aid to the Palestinians.
If you're referring to the GBU-28 5000lb bunker busters, that's true. They do. The GBU-37 Massive Ordinance Penetrator they do not. Neither do they have the delivery system for them.
I would not be surprised to learn that Israel stole the design for them long ago and is quietly building some deep under the Negev.
From what I have read bunker busters would be ineffective against what the Iranians have built to protect their nuclear facilities. It would take nukes to penetrate them.
OK, you've given me some hope. Thanks.
But the Russians just gave the Iranians top-notch anti-aircraft technology, so delivering the bombs will be tough.
My guess is that Israel would first stage an EMP attack and knock out the Iranian power grid. Then conventional attacks against dams, key bridges, major communication and transportation facilities. Then when the Ayatollahs are totally consumed with how to feed their people, break out the bunker-busters.
You refer to something like the B61-11
I don’t think they gave them that...they sold them that and prolly would sell it to the Israelis as well.
Or the B-53 in laydown mode. But I think those have all been dismantled by now.
What cowardice, what ineptitude, what hypocritical double standards!
If/when Israel is FORCED to do something to save themselves, these same bed-wetting Liberal Western states (led by the biggest bed-wetter- the POTUS) will be the first to slap sanctions on Israel for doing what they had no testicles to do...
I would think that Israel has their equivalent already.
