Trump says it’s time to move on from gay ‘marriage’ battle: ‘The Supreme Court ruled.’

LOS ANGELES, CA, August 25, 2015 (LifeSiteNews) – The GOP's leading presidential candidate said that he has been to a gay "wedding" and that conservatives should accept the Supreme Court's redefinition of marriage.

In a wide-ranging interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Donald Trump was asked whether the issue of marriage's redefinition is "a dead issue for the GOP at this point."

"Some people have hopes of passing amendments [to the U.S. Constitution]," said Trump, "but it's not going to happen. Congress can't pass simple things, let alone that. So anybody that's making that an issue is doing it for political reasons. The Supreme Court ruled on it."

In June, Trump told CNN's Jake Tapper that he had evolved on the issue of marriage, and supports "traditional marriage." At the time, he was pressed by Tapper on whether Trump's three marriages undermined his position.

"They have a very good point," said Trump. "I have a great marriage. I have a great wife now. And I – my two wives were very good. And I don't blame them. But I was working, maybe like you, 22 hours a day."

"I blame myself because my business was so powerful for me. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing," he said.

Trump told the Reporter that he had been to the gay "wedding" of Broadway theater owner Jordan Roth.

“I’d GLADLY give 14, 28, 35% ONE TIME tax!”

Then do it. Nothing is stopping you.

Ah, I see. Engaging in a discussion using facts and logic is now “starting shxt.” OK, got it.

Now, explain to me how your reactions to folks on this thread are any different than an Obama drone in 2008?

“The people who run around saying that America is like a third world country have never been to a third world country.”

Both of you made great points regarding perspective. I would only like to add that folks need to remember that even our poor (poverty line) folks are in the top 20% of the worlds population.

Most of the world dreams of having what our poorest segmentation posses.

I would also add that the sucking of that amount of capital out of the private sector would be the death nell for our economy. If you want to see the effects of such actions, do some searches on Venezuala....

I've been to Canada many times for various reasons and every time I'm there it amazes me how "different" it is even there. The American standard of living is so far beyond what the rest of the world experiences that it amazes me when people say otherwise.

Yep, and if you think about it Canada is really the 51st state! I’ve been to horrendous places in Mexico that are still heads and tales above many other areas of the world. The poor folks in Africa or South America probably can’t fathom being able to flush fresh water down a toilet!

I’m sure that there is a very low population in the US that is in similar plights, but it is miniscule. Now that I think of that, they are likely indigenous peoples of Alaska, or other native tribes on reservations. Yep, the heavy handed, dictatorial approach is great! /s

I've been to the homes of wealthy people in Mexico and they come to the U.S. to buy all of their clothing, furniture, etc. because what they want simply isn't available in Mexico at any price.

I work in Northern Virginia and it is full of immigrants from all over the world, they come here BECAUSE of the opportunity. As a rule, Americans DO NOT move to other countries for economic opportunity; sure there are Americans who move to other countries for highly specialized lucrative jobs, but they are the exception. When you encounter Americans living overseas they are typically retired.

Venezuala only did it once. Then the most productive citizens moved. That is precisely what would happen here.

No thanks, I prefer to reduce the spending and not steal more.

GoneSalt, you are VERY NEW to Free Republic, unless you're a retread.

I find it a little odd that you are going out of your way to mock longtime FReepers and calling them trolls because they don't support Trump.

Ban me and take a flying [expletive deleted] at yourself.

I don't have the ability to ban anyone, but I do seem to have struck a nerve.

Can you help me out and tell me some of your past FReeper names? That way I can figure out why you're attacking me like this.

You are clearly not a good fit for FR. I suggest you just go back to your media matters chat room and then we can all live happily ever after.

You might want to check ballearthout, another mouthy noob. He and GoneSalt signed up on the same day.

Darksheare pegged them as being the same person.
