Obama and the United Nations are coming for your guns. For real this time.
Whats that? You hadnt heard? Mondays global summit of states parties to the Arms Trade Treaty in Cancun was not already marked on your calendar, the August 24 start date circled in blood-red ink? It must have something to do with where youre getting your news from.
In 2013, after nearly a decade of effort (and opposition from the Bush administration), the U.N. adopted an Arms Trade Treaty to curtail illicit sales of war weapons, including tanks, fighter jets, warships, missiles, artillery, and small arms, chiefly to keep them out of the hands of rogue governments and militant groups. But that last category of weapons riles Second Amendment activists, who are concerned that the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) is part of a secret globalist agenda to winnow away their constitutional right.

Just found this. The Joyce Foundation is a major contributor to “The Trace.”
The Joyce foundation is left wing and not the friend of the gun owners.
Exactly!
“If the Senate ratified a treaty taking away our right to bear arms it would apply to all of us. It would be unconstitutional.”
What difference does it make now? When was the last time the executive branch enforced rule of law in the U.S.?
What difference does it make now?
It’s making a difference because the government is afraid of armed, law abiding people. Bundy ranch in NV comes to mind.
Said treaties would be wholly and clearly unconstitutional even if ratified. No branch of government, nor even all of them together, can dispense with a Constitutionally-guaranteed right. They may do so on paper, and even have it look "legal," but it wouldn't be.
Tyrants take note: the Constitution was ONLY ratified because of the promise (which was kept by the 1st Congress) to send a Bill of Rights to the states. That is ONE DOCUMENT - any striking of particular provisions would, IMHO, be grounds for declaring the government illegal and the particular government officers trying to accomplish that goal to be traitors. The Constitution has a remedy for traitors, and the Declaration provides moral and legal justification for abolishing a tyrannical government.
Be careful what you wish for, would-be tyrants, you may get it. Don't forget that there are about 300 million guns in this country...and that your power enclaves along the coasts are fed and fueled by flyover country.
I agree with you, but your statement is WAY too kind. Saying what you did is roughly akin to saying that "Adolf Hitler was no friend of the Jews." The simple fact is that the Joyce Foundation is on the leading edge of anti-gun thought and action in this country, and has been for over 20 years. THEY ARE THE ENEMY (and not merely "not friends").
WRONG! 2/3 of the Senate cannot do what 100% of the Senate, 100% of the House and the President combined are prohibited from doing. To abridge (which is to say, REVOKE) a Constitutional right takes an amendment to the Constitution. That, in turn, requires the ratification of a new amendment by 3/4 of the state legislatures (and how the proposed amendment gets to them, by 2/3 of each house of Congress passing it OR by a Convention of the States, is immaterial).
Congress, let alone 2/3 of one house, have no power to dispose of our most basic rights. PERIOD!
The UN can gun grab all it wants. Unless their treaties are approved and ratified by our Congress they do not apply to me.

Thank you, Ancesthntr. Well put and right on.
There are numerous quotes by the Founding Fathers and others that reinforce that.
I am with you! I don’t want our Constitutional right abrogated! But this is not stopping our out-of-control government. It is almost as if there is NO constitution right now...
Nice graphic. bkmk.
Millions of people won't be turning over their weapons.
Bingo!! No treaty supersedes the US Constitution.
All the law abiding, good citizen gun owners are definitely putting a damper on many tyrannical plans.
Without the Second Amendment, we would be in so much worse shape than we are. Many of the current people in power are on a par with Hitler, Stalin, Mao and Castro, to name a few, but they are reined in by fear of the Second Amendment. And thank God for that.

Smart tyrants pick their battles as well as expert guerrilla warriors do.
Lets talk after all this tinfoil hullabaloo about Shemitahs, JADE HELM 15, and the 14th anniversary of 9/11 ends in three weeks.
It could all lead us to a very special place eschatologically, chronologically, + numerically.
Let us all pray we do not have to water the tree hydraulically.
I guess whatever you’re trying to say is okay with me.
Yes I think we should stick to following the law because that’s what the President/politicians are doing.
