Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Sunday turned his attack on rival Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, in his soaring and often unpredictable campaign that has largely targeted frontrunners but spared essentially nobody.
“His state has not performed well,” Trump, the billionaire businessman who now leads in most polls, told ABC’s “This Week.” “We need someone who’s going to make it perform well, this country perform well. … I’m the one to do it.”
Like many political candidates, Trump is spending the early part of the election cycle trying to downgrade the early favorites -- in this case Republican Jeb Bush, a former Florida governor, and Democrat Hillary Clinton, a former secretary of state.
Still, Walker, another early favorite who remains a top-tier contender, was more than willing to block and tackle, telling ABC later in the morning that Trump sounds like a Democrat when attack his record as a two-term governor.

I'm glad you discovered this, some 52 MONTHS BEHIND ME. Yeah, you are way way way behind me on that. You see, I saw Trump coming YEARS ago...I saw the good YEARS ago...I also saw the bad YEARS ago....I even saw your type coming YEARS AGO. I know few people have ever been ahead of the curve.....some live there.
I think this is a realistic theory. Let's hope somehow all 20% comes from states where Republicans have no chance anyway (like mine, Maryland) :)
...and doing so from the liberal mindset too...THATS the destructive thing. It's like Newt attacking Mitt FROM THE LEFT with Bain Capital ads....that was inexcusable and Newt got fried for it - as he should. Trump should get fried for this, for Planned Parenthood, for Fannie and Freddie, for Scotland and Canadian health care....but there's a bigger fog of blindness and willful ignorance than I've EVER seen on the right.

You have to go back to Ronald Reagan to see a presidential candidate as confident and comfortable in his own skin as Donald Trump. As for being happy, he's got it all. More money than he can possibly spend. Beautiful women. Not least of all, successfully raised children who will carry on his empire.
I think you are 100% correct. The exceptions being the Trump backers who, as I think a previous poster on this thread noted, are single issue types (immigration). I don't necessarily agree with them, but I respect the honesty.
Perot handed Clinton his first election & gave him a security cushion during his 2nd election.

I've put it out there before, but the primary reason I don't like Trump is I simply don't trust him. The bromides and populist talk run crossways from his prior and current actions. He was a Republican before he was a democrat before he was an independent before he was a Republican. He uses as his signature campaign issue the problem with illegals, yet hires illegals to build a hotel in DC. He attacks Hillary, yet remains close friends with the Clintons. He says he plans to push to repeal Obamacare, yet has backed single-payer and has an admiration for the Canadian system (y'know.. that one with the long waits and rationed care). But one issue on which he HASN'T flipped and flopped like a crappie in a jon boat is property rights. He is a "100% supporter" (HIS words, not mine) of the Kelo decision in Connecticut. His bully-boy treatment of Vera Coking bears out the lack of respect for property rights. Trump's backers are getting that long-sought cathartic moment, hearing him blast away at the border issue and swear up and down he's going to ensure they're all -- including their children born in this country -- deported forthwith. While that all sounds great, he and his backers are ignoring the fact that will require massive legislative and legal hurdles and quite likely will never happen. Words are one thing... history and actions are something quite other. The ONLY way Trump gets my vote is if he's the last one standing between those filthy dems and the presidency. And even then, it'll be with a firm hold on my nostrils. THAT is why I don't like Trump.
I disagree. A state by state analysis would be needed to determine that. Example - yes, I voted for Perot, but Clinton got over 50% of the vote in Maryland, so the Perot voters had no impact on Clinton winning the state's electoral votes.

I did not say that Freepers would be zotted for supporting Trump. I said that if a Freepes started spouting some of the nonsense and positions that Trump has taken over the years, they would be gone, quickly.
Yes, I've had very civil debates with some of the intellectually honest Trump supporters, who admit that they're making the calculation that Trump's immigration stands and his ability to swat down the establishment are worth his liberal tendencies. I disagree with that....and I think Obama Care is coming back as an issue with a vengeance, and that DT is very weak on that issue - but I do respect that they have made an informed decision.
On the other hand, seems like 80% of them are childish name calling cultists who never address the argument, only demean the messenger. You know, like Obama bots. There's a pretty good number of the Trump followers who are bots.

Some outstanding points, and I'm sure you'll be called a RINO and establishment hack for saying so....even though your problems are the OPPOSITE of what the RINO's and the estabs have with the Don.
I'll say this: he's done a fabulous service to us all - especially on slamming the establishment. But no, for the reasons you posited, he is not THE answer. I"ll vote for him if he gets the nomination - and I would over Jeb or Kasich or Christie - but there are several superior choices for those who believe in limited government and the Constitution. Seems like so few around FR even remember those issues.
I look at Trump as a man who talks a lot and doesn’t monitor all of his words. This is something I find in a lot of people who talk a lot. I look at what he does and how he does it, rather than what he has said in the past when he was just a rambling man with no political plans. Since when can we believe anything any of them say. Ya’ can’t take any of them at their word... except for maybe a couple. And they are getting their money from someone.. who they will be beholden to?
Trump does NOT support single payer health care plan. I hear people saying he does.. and that is not what he said. He said it seemed to be okay for Canada.. off the cuff remark... but then he went on to describe what he wanted for the US.. all of which would work well. He supports the military and wants to fix the neglect of our veterans. He is the first to suggest taking out isis.. and that has to be done or they will only get worse. They are already in El Paso.. plainly seen there.
When anyone goes to the border and sees the real crisis there.. they see why the border has to be closed. Why hasn’t all of congress gone to that border? They don’t care. I want it closed ... yesterday. They are pouring into the US unstopped... terrorists among them.
Trump is a man of action... and I like that. Too many years have gone by with just trying to do things.. no action. I am a fan of Trey Gowdy. He’s been investigating benghazi for way too long .. with no results. Congress has operated in a pretend mode... while paying homage to their contributors. Trump doesn’t owe the lobbyists.. not yet anyway.
I like Trump’s success.. I like the fact he is wealthy... I like the fact he can fly in with his plane marked with his name.. I like the fact he can move to a stadium to accommodate the people.. I like the fact he has an endless supply of cash to do so.
Everything he is asked, he says he’ll fix.. and when he puts out the actual plans.. he’ll be even more attractive. His promise of jobs will bring in democrats who have given up on obama. Some of what he wants to do, I think I could do.. it isn’t hard.. just do what is right and the people will support you. Do what is honest.. we all are tired of the lying.
I’m watching.. I will not throw Trump out.. he is valuable right now for the turmoil he is bringing about. I don’t discount him because he was a democrat.. and as for trusting him.. do you trust anyone??? I sure don’t.. except for maybe Cruz. I like Carson.. but do not think he can control the office against congress and the media.
I just don’t agree to cast Trump as some have.. because he was making deals and taking care of business when he was in the private sector, being a businessman. He has been successful .. and that appeals to me for our country. He’s big and not afraid, in a world of too many weak men.. feminized men.. who have turned to feelings instead of using their brain.
Trump has given me hope that there are those who can do something to stop the destruction. I’m so angry at those who could ... but would not do a damned thing against this progressive president because it wasn’t affecting their world. They have a fence around them... the White House has a fence surrounding who lives there.. the rest of us can deal with it out here in the wild.
