Your Humble Correspondent has just returned from another DC Sunday evening social, or as properly known, Great Gossip Fest.
Since in DC, most wild rumors turn out to be true, am passing them on for whatever they are worth. This was a “tennis event” at a place with one poor tennis court, great beyond top shelf tequila, and tea for the 12 Step crowd.
Report follows:
1: Biden is in. He is not 100% sure yet, but he has stopped drinking in preparation for a possible run, and for Biden, that is a very serious commitment. He is in because running is in the DNA of every politician in DC to run for the next higher office. One big question, however; how close to or far from Obama will/can he position himself. Close; he probably preempts Warren and gets rid of Sanders, but he carries all the Barry Baggage. Away, toward the center, an easier run, but very angry far left libs who might sit it out.
2: Bill Clinton is not supporting Hillary’s presidential dreams. Right now, he has all the money and easy sex he wants. If Hillary is elected, he is forced back into the national spotlight, and cannot avoid it as he does now. She is REALLY pissed, and that is not pretty. Feels she saved his ass in Monicagate… and he owes her. His reaction; Monica?... Oh yes.... I think I remember.
Forgetting about his policies or morals, Bill is the best “retail” politician any of us ever saw, and she is about the worst… and he knows it.
It’s a total lose-lose for him. She wins, be loses his cover. She loses, his wah goes way down too, and with it the Big Bucks.
3: The National Enquirer has posted a “reward” of $250,000 for anyone who can get a picture of Bill Clinton and Julie McMahon (“Energizer”) together. More if it’s a “sexy pose.” Naked, probably $1,000,000, which the Enquirer would make back in about 20 minutes!
41: The Ambassador of Mideast Country A, which does not get along at all with Mideast Country B, is having a torrid affair with the wife of the Ambassador of Country B. Eeevvveeryone knows! They have been seen at Washington’s favorite trysting get-away, The Inn at Little Washington.
The best line tonight was “So is Ambassador XXXX pumping Mrs. YYYYY for information… or is he just pumping her?”
Oh, I almost forgot:
5: Hillary? Hillary who?

So at the party, no mention of Biden and Warren on a ticket, as published rumors of that, or at least the hope of it, are everywhere since their perfunctory meeting, in DC, a meeting important enough that it was he who was drawn out from his Delaware home with his family to make, and to which he returned.
Fascinating party discussion.
Bill has been so underground I had assumed it was Hillary who had sent him to the cellar, but no one is under the impression Bill Clinton wants Hillary in the White House. You gave reasonable remarks on why that would be the case.

Compared to some of the “notches on the belt” women he had, even in the WH, she is primo.
Nobody here knows her, but when they talk to people in NY who know her, the reports are she is very nice.
Word is Biden asked her to “vice” him, and she said a polite but very specific “No, she would not kiss the ring.”
She sees herself as having the “Vagina Vote” if/when Hillary drops out.... and she probably does.
That “No” said, no one ever runs for Vice President, and no “No” is ever final in DC.
There is no upside for Bill as First Laddie. He gets more $ and nookie the way things are, especially with HRC in stir. He is not buying any green bananas from his looks anyway.

What you say here also might explain why Mika on Morning Joe is getting to be more and more dramatic in showing her disdain for Hlllary, as if she is rushing a Hillary collapse and, curiously, seems clearly comfortable doing so.
Mika is VERY good friends with VJ and avidly supports all things Warren. They are all respectfully letting things play out with Biden, but they all seem to hold out for a really enthusiastic Warren candidacy.
So... some combination of Israel, Jordan, Iraq, Syria, etc.
Do the people in DC see him as a cad or as someone admirable because he's such an opportunist?

We need to wait to see if Obama needs to play that card.

Sequence is this. Senate votes no.
Obama vetoes the ‘no’
Senate tries to override the no with a supermajority.
Obama plays the hostage card then, if and only if he needs it to defeat override.
Never play card until needed, and never play it if not needed.
Many see him as both.
Being a cad is not a bad thing to many in DC.
Let me simply say this.
Israel is not necessarily involved, as there is much more division among the “United Arabs’ than commonly through.

In that picture of Billie with Obama on the golf course—he looked like Somalian wraith after a vacation in Biafra with all-you-can-eat MREs (meals rejected by Ethiopians).
I think we’re all hoping they both ooze back somewhere to private life and stop plaguing us. Anywhere but Foggy Bottom, he’s not cute and she’s a menace.
