Real estate mogul Donald Trump said on Sunday he is not intimidated by Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, given his fellow GOP presidential candidates handling of the Badger State.
Well, Im not worried because his state is really in trouble, Trump told host George Stephanopoulos on ABCs This Week.
I mean, its a fantastic place, he said. I love the people of Wisconsin, but if you look at whats going on, they have a $2.2 billion deficit. They were supposed to have a surplus of $1 billion and they have $2.2 billion.
Theres tremendous divisions throughout the state, Trump added. He stopped a lot of work because he didnt want to raise taxes. So instead of raising taxes, hes borrowing to the hilt and his state is overleveraged.
Trump then argued Walkers handling of Wisconsin is proof he would fare no better managing the U.S.
His state has not performed well, he said. We need someone whos going to make it perform well, this country perform well.
Im the one to do it, the outspoken billionaire added. And people are seeing it and it is being reflected in the polls.
Trumps remarks come as he leads the race for the 2016 GOP presidential nomination across multiple national samplings.
He additionally mocked Walker on Sunday for trying to emulate his positions.
Scott Walker has changed his mind now, because he keeps going to his pollster, and his pollster says, Oh, Trump has a good idea, Trump has a bad idea, oh no, wait a minute, Trump has a good idea, Trump said.
These people dont know what theyre doing, George, Trump told Stephanopoulos. Theyre politicians.
Which should have thrilled you, being one yourself.
To the contrary, actually if Trump won the GOP nomination I would vote for him in the general election. I'm not one to take my ball and go home like many folks are. General elections in this country are a choice between 2 viable candidates and I'll always vote for the GOP nominee over the Democrat - even if it is, as usual, voting for the lesser of 2 evils.
Fortunately these things usually burn themselves out before it is too late, but one can look back in history at comically ridiculous populists that did make it into power and understand, by looking at what is going on these last few months, at how it happens. Neither side is immune to the sway of these cult of personality types, it's just disappointing to see up close and first hand.
He’s got a year to prove himself or screw it up ;)

It is my hope that if elected Trump would listen to solid counsel like he has listened to Jeff Sessions. Living in New York, he probably doesnt get a lot of exposure to what conservatism is really about. Thats why I enjoy the fact that he and Cruz have had conversations.
Obama listens to Valerie Jarret and George Soros. We need to keep learning about who Trump listens to.
I keep hoping for a Trump/Cruz where it becomes a partnership, we need a bulldozer and a ramrod but we also need to rebuild a system with a rebooted Constitution, and Cruz is the brain to do it.
Trump has been telling this leftist lie long enough to know the truth. He is now a confirmed and deliberate liar.
WI schools are a mixed bag.
Great Schools is an excellent resource for grading school overall performance.
WI has their share of 10s but their midrange and lower scores are substantial.
HEAR HEAR !!
"There was in early 2014 a projection of a $1 billion surplus heading into the 2015-17 budget period. Late in 2014, there was a projection of a $2.2 billion shortfall -- the difference between expected revenues and the amount of money being requested by state agencies. But the shortfall was never a deficit -- and some of the surplus was consciously spent by Republicans, as tax cuts."

True. Im not sure you could find a State whos schools are not. They did not become midrange and lower because of Walkers reforms. Just like all long-Democratically governed school systems, Milwaukee is a colossal failure, resistant to improvement.
Walkers ACT 10 reforms had a significant educational focus that has been overlooked. The big, Democratic school systems rushed to sign union contracts in advance of Walkers reforms so the reform effects were delayed for those districts for several years.
I have begun to see anecdotal evidence that promising teachers are receiving multiple job offers. Hopefully, allowing demand to pull the good teachers to where they are needed and to eliminate the bad ones will take effect.
But it is silly to argue, as those have above that Walker has destroyed the schools.
Walker promised to maintain 500 million as the structural surplus.
And as I said, the deficit won’t materialize due to the balanced budget requirements.
However unanticipated cuts will have to be made.
It’s not the success Walker had planned, but it’s probably not as bad as Trump is making it out to be.
you gotta admit, he’s one helluva lia....i mean negotiator.

Once you accept the schools system is probably on par with most other states, it’s a wash. What’s silly is to comb through data and cherry pick the good stuff.
Walker has undisputably accomplished a handful of monumental tasks. The fact that the rest of the score card is average does not taint his overall performance at all.
But. Immigration is the issue this time around, can he be trusted. I’m not so sure.
Well, if you want to cut taxes, you do "stop" a lot of the unnecessary "work".
Is Trump saying that Walker should be raising taxes? Is Trump going to cut the massive U.S. debt and if so how is he going to do it? His statement sounds like more taxes.
Maybe Trump will run over to Breitbart to explain that he is not a tax and spend democrat.
Sorry, but Great Schools is only as good as the data fed into it. They gave an 8/10 rating to the Pacifica California school district. Trust me, it is a sh—hole district.
Now I’m not saying that WI schools have similarly inflated ratings from Great Schools— their ratings might be entirely accurate. I just find fault with your assertion that the site provides an accurate picture of the quality of schools.
Their ratings are fairly reliable around here, so I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt.
On the other hand you may be right, WI schools rated 10 might be crap. Trump may be right about Walker.
