Mobile, Alabama (CNN)Donald Trump brought 30,000 supporters from deep red Alabama to a Friday night pep rally in a football stadium, the latest sign that the Republican front-runner has broad, nationwide strength.
Over an hour of often rambling remarks, the New York businessman reveled in the crowd size while he offered them his usual menu of patriotic pledges and carefree criticism of the media, his opponents and political correctness that he said his crowd similarly despised.
"We've gotten an amazing reception," Trump said as he began his remarks, turning his back to the podium at the Ladd-Peebles Stadium and pointing to the rafters behind him. "Has this been crazy? Man!"
The event had the trappings of a big Friday night high school match-up. Trump flew by the stadium in his private jet shortly before 6 p.m., doing a loop around the arena before landing. The fly-by was announced over the stadium's loudspeaker to cheers.
The event was previously planned to be held at the nearby Civic Center but was moved to the 43,000-seat Ladd-Peebles Stadium -- a venue normally home to high school football games -- to accommodate the crowd. The City of Mobile confirmed late Friday that 30,000 people attended.
"It was one of the greatest events Mobile ever put on aside from Mardi Gras," said Colby Cooper, Mayor Sandy Stimpson's chief of staff.
Trump -- whose victory in national and early-state polls is no longer a surprise -- has in recent weeks taken steps to quickly professionalize his political operation. And his event at a stadium that each year hosts college football's Senior Bowl was an effort to assemble the grandest show of force yet.

I happened to have Smerconish on and he was dissing Trump because there were empty seats in the stadium.
I think Mr. Trump is fired up and intensifies when he sees the impact on those who listen to his message. I believe he can be nominated and win the election as well. Hillary “thunder thighs” would be left in the dust. Keep it up Donald!
Did I read something last night about chrissy matthews asking if there were any black people there? Just when you think the depths have been plummed, these guys dig a little more.

Trump is driving the professional ruling class nuts.
His appeal goes pretty much across the board. His appeal is to patriotism and nationalism, which only democrats hate. Since Democrats are only about 30-40% of the electorate, Trump will probably take 50 states if he wins the nomination.
Jeb Bush would lose in a landslide. Jeb appeals to nobody.
I know progressives. They are making a huge push for Bernie. Much of this country has gone to Marx.

A man STANDS upon a podium and speaks behind a lectern.
Good story but journalists just do not have any command of the English language anymore. The way this is written he is floating on his back above the floor (which IS the podium) and looking towards the sky.
Of course, if anyone could pull it off it would be Trump...
So, where were the BLM protesters? Could it be they knew they’d get their a*sses kicked if they tried anything? Could it be Trump has them scared?
Well, as he suffers form liberitus, that’s understandable. They are only there to be used to further the progressive cause because, to the libs/progs, they’re too stupid to realize they’re being used. Typical. The only cure, and it’s not guaranteed to work, is a heavy dose of kickassium.
