I agree with you, but more recently, “kids” did fall in love young and marry. My grandfather was 18 and headed to college and my grandmother was graduating high school at 16 and they married. It wasn’t that unusual in the earlier decades of the 20th century, and they were from middle class families.

A person I know was just short of 16 when he had relations with a girl of 17, who was about to graduate high school; naturally, she became pregnant, and suddenly we have a soon to be high school junior who is not only maried, but also a father, needing a job after school to support a family...

Quite a less than ideal situation, but happily it all worked out for them, and they are now doting grandparents...but geez, talk about tempting fate...
