If they can pass the test (and the test hasn’t been made easier just so they can pass) Then I say let them in.
So the Army has finally lowered its standards sufficiently so the gals can get be (almost) special forces?
was there a shoe sale near the base?
I’m 64 years old. I do 50 pushups a night. When I was a grunt I could do many more. 49 pushups and 6 pullups seems a bit on the light side fro Ranger school.
Same things were said of female pilots and other career fields only to find they were given chances, help, and sometimes flat out passed even after failing.
With all the butch chicks out there that could body-slam the average man and deliver a kill blow to the throat, it was only a matter of time.
Most soldiers who make it through Ranger School never serve with a Ranger Battalion. Most graduates of Ranger School say it’s great for learning small group leadership and testing your endurance limits (food and sleep deprivation), but that it’s otherwise a bit overrated. This is what I’ve been told.
“Pass”. I could probably “pass” that test—and I’m a couch potato. I’m female, and that is evidently enough for me to be able do all the things that men can do physically. /s
Can they haul a male soldier with all their gear off the battlefield should it come to that? That’s the question I think we need answered.
I knew a few guys in the Corps who had the Ranger tab and they said it was fairly strenuous but mostly just games. They learned a lot and took pride in the tab.
Flunking them would have ended a number of careers.
Two out of how many dozens that attempted? That IS a noteworthy accomplishment and shouldn’t be dismissed with such sexist sarcasm. By all accounts if you’ve been reading the news, the Army did not lower the standards. Celebrate their success or mourn the loss of feminimity this represents.
As so many have said for so many years, put them in their own all-woman infantry unit. Then send them against the enemy on their own, with no other combat units as crutches and no Hollywood-like video presentations by special operations units, when the opportunity is presented. In other words...no more sleight-of-hand or other deceptions for duping our civilian populace.
In a real war—nation against nation—the folly will be realized. Men will start telling the truth, after enough men and women are killed unnecessarily. Several other nations have already learned the lesson and changed their policies accordingly.
Is it just me, or does this seem like it's not hard enough?
I can do a decent portion of this at 64 years of age.
Most graduates of Ranger School do not go into the Ranger units.
I don’t believe for a second that they did not lower the standard. Not for a second.
depraved
I guess having a 2 star general as one of your lane walkers on a patrol is standard now, along with having 30 female “minders” tagging along. The females definitely were held to different standards, that’s why they were allowed to recycle twice in the same phase (Camp Darby). They definitely were held to different standards, and before anyone tries to give me the BS that they were held to the same standard, I went through Ranger School in ‘85 as a 19 y/o private out of 2/75 and it kicked my ass. Lost 40+ lbs in the course. This PC BS is gonna get good guys killed. Rant off.
