Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker took aim at Washington Monday, accusing establishment figures such as the Senate majority leader of being "part of the problem."
Walker, who is running for the Republican presidential nomination, was asked by Glenn Beck if he would agree that there are people that "are part of the establishment, like Mitch McConnell, that are part of the problem."
The Senate did take a procedural vote on an amendment that would have added the repeal of President Obama's signature healthcare law to a long-term highway bill. But supporters of repealing the law failed to get the necessary votes to move forward.
Walker isn't the only Republican running for president to try to galvanize on anti-Washington sentiment.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) has repeatedly called on his supporters to help him bust the "Washington cartel" and referred to McConnell as the "so-called Republican leader" who is part of a "McConnell-Reid leadership team," referring to Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.).
Walker added on Monday that it was governors, not Congress, that managed to slow down, if not halt, part of Obama's executive actions on immigration.
The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals is currently reviewing an injunction brought by 26 states that blocked the president from moving forward.
"It's not because of Congress, a Republican-led Congress, did anything to stop him from doing that. This is where the frustration is," Walker added on Monday. "People are saying loud and clear 'do not dismiss my concerns. Do not dismiss the fact that you told us Republicans stood for something and it's not happening in Washington.' "
While low approval ratings for Congress are common, according to a Gallup poll released earlier this month, 14 percent of U.S. adults approve of the job lawmakers are doing, compared to 17 percent in July.
Meanwhile, 34 percent of Republicans had a favorable opinion of McConnell.
“Given that Obama will veto any bill that dares to repeal Obamacare, probably neither House of Congress will have the constitutionally required 2/3 majority vote (1.7.2) needed to override such a vote.”
Not necessary. King Buckwheat doesn’t obey the limits of the Constitution, so the senate can act likewise. Simply decree that the majority of a senate vote is sufficient to repeal anything Buckwheat does, including overiding Buckwheat’s veto.
If Buckwheat objects, the senate can overule his objection by a simple unrecorded voice vote.
I don’t hate Walker.
Hate is a strong word.
I don’t support Walker, because he isn’t a good candidate, and he’s not going to be president, and I do not trust Walker and his me too routine.
If illegal immigration was important to him, he should have addressed it directly long ago, because it’s too late now, and he looks foolish doing it.
Also, what do they say, the House controls the purse-strings? That might have been another possible maneuver.
Yeah, trashing Walker here is sort of ridiculous. Guy has been arguably the most effective conservative Governor of the last fifty years. On all fronts. Cutting taxes, crushing unions, pro life, implementing concealed carry, castle doctrine, eliminating gun waiting periods, expanding school vouchers and the list goes on and on.
Freepers and Trump himself need to come to Wisconsin. It has been nothing short of a revolution here. We were like California and now are completely conservative run.
He won 3 elections in 4 years in a blue state while taking on the shiboleth of the left. Which other candidate has beat the unions 3 times? . I am not saying he is my choice because he is not. But the notion that everybody is wanting when compared to The Donald is amusing.
Yes I do. Especially against a guy who has sold his soul to the GOP establishment. Face it, Walker isn’t a particularly good candidate on the national stage.
He hasn’t enough fire and when he tries it doesn’t work.
Trump flipped flopped on immigration, no big deal, Senators hardly accomplish squat but double down on Walker, he may not be a good candidate, weak on foreign affairs but he’s done a lot of good nonetheless, he is of course, behind Trump in Iowa but he’s probably 2nd, hardly enough to write his epitath on.
I agree hate was too strong. And a lefty tactic. But I was using it sarcastically. You don’t trust Walker who has a record? So who do you trust? Surely not Trump who has a record of supporting single payer, gun bans, abortion and H1B visas galore along with a penchant for buying politicians.
oMGGGGZ a Walker post without Naps showing up...sure sign that the Walkergasms are over...well that and that Rush is over having Walkergasms as well and talking Trump 24/7
Like I said he did a good job ad gov. He’s a brigade commander, not a General of the Army.
Thx. I was gonna ask...doesn’t he know that? Lol
We could always pull a Louise Slaughter and just deem we have the votes to kill it.
Walker is still up near the top for me, perhaps second, after Cruz. Trump, on the other hand, is down near the bottom of the 17, maybe tied with Pataki for last.
You mean pro-kelo, conservative-come-lately Trump?

That people are falling for Trump tells you how broken the Republic is. Trump’s policies are terrible, cannot be implemented unless you extend Obama’s imperial presidency, and will cause real harm to liberty in America.
Walkers “ME TOO” approach just isn’t going to work.
As well, I refuse to "bash" any supporters of other candidates, as long as they don't act like d*cks. I know one thing about all my fellow Freepers, they love this Country as much as I do, and want to see her succeed as much I. We all understand the perils that face us if the socialists get another chance. I don't know if the Republic can survive what remains of Obama's tenure, but I know for certain, that it will NOT, if any of the current Democrats make it to the Presidency in 2016.
I read he’s making campaign staff *rearrangements* and reaching out to a (new?) strategist (after Iowa).
“And where was Walkers admonitions of the establishment during the debate?”
Walker was nearly ignored during the debate. It appeared to me that he was deliberately being marginalized. If that was not the intent, then at least that was the outcome. Lots has been said that he was not impressive. But, what opportunity did he get to shine? Most of the questions revolved around Donald Trump, Jeb Bush and Chris Cristie.
As an observer of Scott Walker during the first years of his governorship in Wisconsin, I can attest that he has a lot of gumption. I do admit he does not have the experience with the media that Donald has, nor does he have the brashness either. If you are not in favor of Scott walker, that is your choice, But, please do NOT IMPUGN his character
