On the economy, Donald Trump sounds like Nancy Pelosi
marketwatch ^ | Aug 14, 2015 | Paul Brandus

...Trump said “We don’t win anymore…we don’t do anything right.” And yet, if we’re losing and can’t beat anybody, as he claims, then why is the rest of the world so confident about the U.S. and eager to come here and do business? Don’t take it from me: just read the AT Kearney survey of global business executives, which says—for the third year in a row—that the United States has the world’s best macroeconomic outlook— better than anywhere else, including China and Mexico, two countries he claims are eating our lunch.

Another study shows those executives putting their money where their mouth is. International firms poured $236 billon into the United States in 2013...

[snip]

This kind of simplistic bumper-sticker talk goes over well with folks who apparently don’t want to think for themselves...

[snip]

That Trump talks in broad terms with little to no policy detail (“I will be the greatest jobs president that God ever created”) is a rap against him, but then again, political candidates are generally advised to avoid specifics that may be picked apart and cost votes later on. More seasoned politicians like Jeb Bush and Hillary Clinton have already fallen into this trap; is Trump politically savvier than them? No, his campaign—new, understaffed and disorganized—is just out of the gate, and he’ll make similar mistakes soon enough.

But another reason Trump hasn’t talked all that much about his ideas is because they’re not, well, conservative enough. “I’m a free trader,” he claims, yet...

[snip]

He’s a protectionist in free-trader clothes, a stance that squarely aligns him with labor unions, environmentalists and big-city liberals like Nancy Pelosi. That’s hardly the way to win the backing of the Republican party, now, is it?...

Attacking him like this only makes him stronger and more popular. Only one person can defeat Don Trump .... and that’s Don Trump.

While I can’t stand Nancy Pelosi - she was a better Speaker of the House than Boehner. She was tough as nails, while he is a wussie, except when it comes to conservatives, then he gets tough. She had gonads, even though I despised her.

I’m just not seeing any reason I should trust him. That would require an actual discussion about his distant and recent past but all I get is screeching.

It just causes me to trust him less.

If third party against ¡Jeb!, Krispy Kreme, or the great Biblical Interpreter Kasich, I’m voting Trump in a New York minute.

Beautiful new week here investors!   Futures are flat and the only reports are Empire Manufacturing, NAHB Housing Market Index, and Long-Term TIC Flows.

OK, this thread's article is pure politics and that supposed to be a no no for serious investors.  Well, one thing is that major changes in policy direction really do matter (imho) and therefore a bit of checking wind direction can't hurt.  The other thing is we already got some good 'econ issues' threads going on here:

All these neat things happening & I'll try and keep up but first I have to go out fix a backed up septic tank...

Who is AT Kearney? I have an MBA and subscribe to the Wall Street Journal and I never even heard of AT Kearney before this morning.

The US business environment was becoming less favorable even before Obama, to claim it's become good now is simply delusional.

Here's how the Marxists at The Economist rank countries:

Easily.

Nazi Pelousy spoke of what she believed and made it happen.

Boner lies, muddles, and obfuscates, and ultimately makes what Nazi Pelousy wants happen.

I think I prefer the one that wants to shoot me in the face over the backstabber.

Screeching's not so bad, what I get is a sudden shift to attacks against me personally.

Jeb is running to be president of the US(potus). Trump is running to be king of the US(kotus)

Bush knows that Congress has to reform immigration but he can try to influence the outcome. Trump plans on issuing immigration edicts and Trump trumps congress and the courts.

Marketwatch is a major tool of the Ruling Elite. I would zero weight, or even negative weight, to any politically-oriented column they run.

Marketwatch is good for objective data, charts, company financials (as “objective” as those are - ha!), quotes, and the like.

As far as politics, they are all in with the Globalists.

“....... hardly the way to win the backing of the Republican party, now, is it?...”.......

More than likely, the rinos have their person already their man picked and I believe Bush is a high possibility. (He’s not one I would choose however) Look at the war chest he suddenly created, do we think that money fell from the sky somewhere? Perhaps the rinos had a hand in that bumper crop.

No, "free trade" starts with a leveled playing field between the traders or we get unbalanced trade which isn't free.
