Well, duh. Even if he spends $1B and loses, he’ll make it up in a heartbeat because it was an investment in his brand name.

In another article about his appearance at the Iowa State Fair, Trump
claims to have turned down a five million dollar donation.

He makes a million bucks a day.

That’s almost as good as lawyers.

What I like about Trump as president is that nobody is going to own him. No kickbacks for anybody.

Bloomberg News estimated his wealth at $2.9 billion (not ten billion)...

So, is there all THAT much difference between a $3-billionaire and a $10-billionaire? Not from most folks' perspectives.

This might just be enough to squish Jeb!

110 million is chump change compared to a bil.

He won't have to worry about spending $1b of his own money, especially if he gets the nomination as he'll then have the apparatus and resources of the Republican Party behind him and he's already getting donations now. Sure, he's rejecting the obvious "bribe money" from lobbyists but he'll bring in hundreds of millions in small donations from individuals.

When Trump got into this campaign back in June, I laughed along with everybody else. I'm not laughing now. Trump has been Reaganesque in New Hampshire and Iowa these last couple of days. He handles the press (and their tough questions) effortlessly with humor and guile.

I don't see how he can be stopped now.

He should take donations of 500$ or less and only allowed to donate once.

Usually, the Establishment likes candidates who self-fund.

1 billion won't be enough. Each candidate raised that much in 2012. With Trump not accepting outside donations, a lot of the Romney donors will be donating to Hillary instead to buy influence. Add in inflation and Hillary could have almost 2 billion to spend on her campaign.

Obama: $1.123 billion vs. Romney: $1.019 billion.
