Monterey, pre-cartels, was one of the most charming cities I’ve visited - and this old gal has traveled a lot. That was in the old days, a city surrounded by mountains, full of plazas and flowers and music, a place of beauty and romance.
So sad.
Oh,i soooo understand!
I wheeled into Santa Clara del Cobre [St Clare of Copper] ... I bought lots of it there. But i digress ... I got out of the car, there was a massive pine tree in front of me ... planted in the red , red earth of Michoacan ... and the TREE HAD ORCHIDS CLIMBING UP THE SIDE of the pine tree!!!!
Then the town’s band marched down the hill with dented tubas and ratty trumpets.
I, too, was in love. But Michoacan ... all 18th century architecture, is a drug haven.
