Former United States President announces he has been diagnosed with cancer which was found during recent liver surgery.Former United States President Jimmy Carter on Wednesday announced he has been diagnosed with cancer.
"Recent liver surgery revealed that I have cancer that now is in other parts of my body," Carter said in a statement released by the Carter Center and quoted by The Associated Press (AP). "I will be rearranging my schedule as necessary so I can undergo treatment by physicians at Emory Healthcare."
The statement made clear that Carter's cancer is widely spread, but not where it originated, or even if that is known at this point. It added that further information will be provided when more facts are known, "possibly next week."Carter, 90, announced on August 3 that he had surgery to remove a small mass from his liver.
Carter, who was the 39th president, has remained active for the center in recent years, making public appearances at its headquarters in Atlanta and traveling overseas.
He has caused some controversy in Israel, however, due to some pro-Palestinian statements and actions.

Is noob a slight? Am I supposed to bow now? Sorry but ive been here for well over 10 years. Was under the name AbsoluteJustice some time ago left for awhile, came back and didn’t have my login credentials but thanks for the compliment..I think. I’ll be sanctimonious if that means I’m not nasty attacking a person who has been diagnosed with cancer. It’s called class
You must have missed the threads where we excitedly discussed how anxious we all were to line up in front of Jimmuh’s grave, after sharing a few kegs of beer.
Re-tread huh?
As a Christian, we are instructed to forgive, and to be merciful, to mete the same measure we ourselves would accept, for none are without sin.
The one deserving of our enmity is still in power. Jimmy's day has passed.
Yes, by all means, one should pull one's punches when the Lord decides to take one back into the fold.
Look should the same fate befall upon Clinton or any other liberal I dont agree with Ill take the higher road, pay my respects and wish a recovery as any human would do.
No, you would do as YOU would do, not as others would. What you wish to be reality is not necessarily so.
Or say nothing at all.
Mostly, I don't, but some people have complied a history that deserves all the wrath I can conjure, spit out, or wish upon them.
But to pile into a man with cancer is being petty and snide.
I have had these feelings since 1976. That is almost 40 years. I have watched that sob repeatedly sellout this very country. I don't care what disease he may have and what he succumbs to, it will not change how I feel, and I am not going to cut him slack because he finally kicks off the mortal coil to liver cancer. Hell, my own dad died of same. it does not negate his treason, nor will it ever negate my feelings for the scumbag. And, he is a scumbag.
Not befitting of a Freeper or dare I say a Christian. We are far better than this.
Speak for your self. This country is disintegrating before your eyes due to the words and actions of vile scum such as him,l and you are willing to give him a pass, and behave like good little freepers, why, because he is dying? Where the hell have you been jarhead?
Yes, I started paying attention closely to politics in 2000 joined but was trying to find my way politically. I knew I was a conservative hell I’m a Marine so of course I wasn’t a liberal ;-) but was ignorant politically speaking. Gave FR a whirl, was a lurker popping in every now and then. left FR for quite sometime and came back. During my time away I read as much political literature I could get my hands on to better educate myself on the founding fathers, Reagan etc. Politics has now become a passion
I would wish a quick and merciful death on a rabid dog, but over Mr. Carter's fate I have no sway.
That is in the hands of Almighty God, and He will deal with Mr. Carter as He sees fit, better knowing the man and his motives than we ever can.
Those of us who have had, have personally battled, or have attended a loved one who has or has had cancer have some understanding of the road ahead for Mr. Carter.
It is no easy future, even with the best medical treatment in the world, and can be a long, lingering and very painful exit.
Even surviving the disease is seldom pleasant or relatively painless.
It costs nothing to pray for his soul and for him to repent of his destructive past, and as Christians, we were instructed to pray for our enemies.
Recall, Christ forgave the sins of the thief on the cross, and 11th hour repentance is beter than none.
Good reply, you’ve certainly been on this earth longer than I having been born in 75. I understand the anger. My father feels the exact same way.
Duly noted
Shhh! Half the people in the US think we are part of Canada.
Or as we said in the Corps, “as I was” :-) have a good night!
Why? Jimmah thinks Cuba's healthcare is the best in the world. Fly him to view the Panama Canal on the way to a Cuban hospital.
“Fortunately” at Mr Carter age, the cancer evolution, spread and symptoms are very slow and he can live with that cancer with no significant pain, many years to come.
I remember it well
