(CNN)Donald Trump's glittering empire of New York skyscrapers and Atlantic City casinos have long had a darker side, allegations that the mob helped build them.
Trump's alleged ties to New York and Philadelphia crime families go back decades and have been recounted in a book, newspapers and government records.
"The mob connections of Donald are extraordinarily extensive," New York investigative journalist Wayne Barrett told CNN in an interview.

I watched an inside the mob documentary a while ago where Michael Franzese said the mob got a piece of every building built in NYC during the 70s and 80s. Every window, every brick. I would bet every developer had either knowingly or unknowingly provided bucks for the mob at that time. Probably still going on today.
I don’t know who that was.
I know he was helped by the Fulbright foundation.
He met Kennedy as part of that program.
The Clintons have killed more people than Trump.
I had an uncle who was an enforcer for the Purple Gang.

Not an advocate of organized crime (by any means), but have known SOME people who sing the praises of the Mafia. They are mostly Italian-Americans, but not all. Their praise mostly has to do with the Mafia’s role in keeping their urban neighborhood “orderly”—that is, keeping out minority (Black, Latino, etc) gang activity. And pumping $$ into local establishments.
This dovetails with the “Godfather” movies. The Mafia was certainly violent, but it wasn’t all bad to the communities where it existed.
And Wallace was there as he was still a Governor....

I suspect Sen. J. William Fulbright for one. Or as Sen Joe McCarthy used to refer to him: Sen. Halfbright.
Don't remember all the details but I seem to recall Fulbright took an interest in Clinton early on and helped him avoid the draft during Vietnam. Fulbright himself was real leftist piece of work. No wonder McCarthy hated him.
I’m glad I’m not the only one reminded of that scene in “Back to School” every time I hear Trump. We need a Thornton Melon who knows how things really work and how to get things done.

The Fulbright angle is an important one.
Clinton fit a certain profile. Single female parent, with no male role model. Who do we know like that?
