The Texas police officer who shot dead an unarmed college football player during a suspected burglary at a car dealership has been fired. Brad Miller had his employment terminated by the town's chief of police, who criticized his 'poor judgment' when he killed Christian Taylor in Arlington, Texas, on Friday
The white 49-year-old officer should not have approached the black 19-year-old alone, Arlington police chief Will Johnson told reporters at a news conference.
Miller joined the police department in September and graduated from the city police academy earlier this year. Police said he cannot appeal his firing because he was a probationary employee.

Throw the rookie under the bus.
The headline?
So how many people did he actually kill?
AFU
Video shows this guy was whacked out and non complaint
Fergadishu nationwide.
Fergadishu nationwide.
Violated policy.
Got into a hairy situation without waiting for backup.
Bad day.
Isn’t 49 kinda old to just become a cop?
I wish I knew all there was to know on this one, but yeah, it feels like that, for sure.
It's the economy, stupid!
Thanks, Obama!
that aside, what did they want the cop to do?...fire a warning shot, risking hurting a totally innocent person?...wait to be attacked?...allow this rampage to continue?...
no win situation...
Always remember the name Will Johnson. Keep Will Johnson at the top so this can all be remembered later. Officer was attacked by the teen who DROVE HIS CAR THROUGH THE GLASS INTO THE DEALERSHIP. Get real.
My question is, who hires a 49 year old Rookie who has never been a cop anywhere? That is very weird. It might be a bad shoot, but I would take my chances with a Texas Jury after seeing the video of the thug jumping up and down on the cars. How did he think it was going to end after causing that much damage? Maybe suicide by cop.
That individual appeared to be high on something.
Definitely dumb all over and maybe a little “ugly” on the side
Big time, and non compliant.
Very foolish.
Chief has opened city to Million $ litigation.
Smart move would have been to put him behind desk, then ease him out in 6 months.
One question, he’s a probationary officer without a training officer as a partner?
Despite that, I know my local police department has rules specifically requiring officers to wait for backup before engaging a suspect unless the suspect is actively attempting to kill or seriously harm a victim.
Probationary period was probably about to end.
