Target Closing West Side Location in November

The West Side Target, located at 3720 Soldano Blvd (in the Consumer Square Shopping Center off West Broad Street), will be closing their doors sometime in November. A part time employee tipped us off in a discussion about West Side redevelopment ideas on our messageboard, noting that the decision to close was made about a week ago. A call to the store this morning confirmed the November closure, though a final date is still unknown at this point.

Large retail centers have struggled to attract and retain tenants on the city’s west side over the past several decades, with the most notable example being the shuttered Westland Mall. Rumors of a Westland redevelopment, often referred to as “Weston” have circulated for nearly a decade, but concrete plans have failed to materialize.

The West Side Target seems to have been in a similar state of decline, at least from a customer perception angle. In 2011, CU Messageboard poster Twixlen stated “that Target suffers from the same issue that Kohl’s has… they are trying to angle their products to a perceived clientele, which in turn alienates the clientele they have. ...

I don't get it. The masses had spoken and demanded gender neutral aisles. Thousands and thousands of formerly frustrated feminists were going to flock to the nearest Target. Business was going to skyrocket. Why close it?

Hmmmmm....

That section of Columbus has been sacrificed to the joys of diversity.

Unfortunately, such enlightenment doesn’t pay the bills and frightens the horses.

Which Columbus? Probably only 30 or 40 to choose from in the US!

Um, the one with a Westland mall and Broad Street as referenced in the article? It’s Ohio of course.

With 20 to 30 to choose from, all you have to do is open up the ad filled online edition and hope to find a clue. Or ask appropriately hoping the poster will JPEG the hint and join the ranks of the normal and get a clue to in the future put the two letter state abbreviation in there

But of course. There’s always one nasty flamed in there piling on. Nothing better to do than open up every article and slam those who hope for order

May they all close.

I walked away from Target in August of 2013, when the company made it a policy to endorse non-marriage and call it marriage.

Target’s entry into Canada was an absolute disaster. They started opening stores there in 2013, and soon expanded to 133 stores. Two years later, they closed them all, losing $4.5 Billion in the process.

Yeah, that'll be disappointing. At least I can run to the GAP and get power clothes for my daughter designed by Ellen.
