I actually would like to see that, but i feel Cruz is too vulnerable to being labelled a hard right Christian constitutional conservative. He might be able to pull Republicans, but he cannot pull the crossovers and the independants. Trump can, which is why he must be the nominee if Cruz is ever to have his shot at VP, then President.
I'm not yet convinced he's not hustling. I should read his books; I might get a better sense of that.
That's been my analysis, as well, Mel.
Like most Freepers, I'd prefer Cruz too, but as Rush says, I live in Realville. Take Trump out of the race and Cruz gets slaughtered by the Uniparty/Media/Megadonor machine. As much as we here love him, his support is deep - but not wide - like Trump's is.
No, Trump isn't the conservative hero of our dreams, but where it counts the most, he's solidly in our camp. I just watched a video of Trump speaking at CPAC 2011 and he was pounding the same points about illegal immigration, the border, our military weakness, our trade imbalances, Obamacare, etc., as he is today.
In my view, we need General Bloody Trump to lead our forces to victory, with General Cruz as his second in command. After four to eight years of Supreme Commander Trump dismantling the whole of the enemy's infrastructure, General Cruz takes over and begins the rebuilding process.
Take Trump out of the equation and the war is lost. That's my analysis of the situation.
