The first GOP primary debate of the year, hosted by Fox News and moderated by three of their best, kicked off in headline-grabbing style when the moderator team backed candidate Donald Trump into a corner about the possibility of running on a third-party ticket.
But the attacks didnt stop there. Out of the six questions that Trump was asked, most of them were nothing more than thinly veiled attacks in what conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh suggested was a targeted effort by the GOP establishment to slam the brakes on Trumps momentum.
While Limbaugh had reported that there was a strong possibility that big-time Republican donors had ordered to take out Donald Trump, he and most others assumed the attackers would be Trumps fellow candidates.
But when the debate wrapped up, he explained that Fox News was the real hit man.

I’m with you on voting for Trump if push comes to shove. It’s really sad, seems to me, that even with so many really good candidates conservatives might have to vote for the “lesser of two evils.” Not too different from the last 2 elections. I miss the excitement of the seventies and eighties when we felt empowered and excited about who we voted for. Selecting someone on the basis of damage control is disheartening.
It goes beyond simply being broken. Corruption is rampant and endemic. The government is going to have to be replaced entirely or we end up like Cuba or Venezuela really fast.
Faux conservative vs. faux fair and balanced news organization.
But don't think they didn't wound Trump and, at least, slowed his growth.
Re-assuring FR your intellect nor imagination has evolved beyond 4th grade.
Are you really that fearful of a discussion without the crutch of trying to plug in some gamer fantasy stuff?
George Will and the like... THEY are the reason Trump’s numbers are so high. That kind of talk is the reason I want someone to shut them up! get them out! show them they are not going to run this country and not going to run this election!!
I had been a regular Fox News viewer. But after that so-called debate, I can’t bring myself to watch anything on Fox.
“Fox News is just as bad a (f)orum as MSNBC for
non gopes.”
If a GOP primary campaign debate was hosted by
MSNBC the questions would come out of the
Dem’Rat playbook.....voting rights, climate
change, gay marriage, “women’s health”, pay
equity, etc. I don’t think FOX is anywhere near
that level and don’t forget there is always
Hannity.
And at least HP didn't go bankrupt four times.
Disclaimer: Carly is not my candidate and the media does lie about Trump.
I think Rush should have a week set aside for all
these GOP candidates to be on the phone - set up
to take calls from us true Americans. Give them one
minute to answer and keep it moving...
Come on Rush - it can be done ya know!
Politicians have become place-holders, caricatures shielding modern robber barons, allowing maneuver in a stealthy manner. The media are also tools of war, forged to hew popular opinion.
Your insult is weak, my FRiend.
Your characterization would apply to nearly everyone in both "debates", to every GOP presidential candidate in the past two decades, and to most members of the GOP-"controlled" House and Senate.
That’s about it.
My comment was actually in response to Comment 83, not 84.
What insult?
I think you meant to post to somebody else...
Okay you mistakenly replied to the wrong post in your first post.
But then you purposely didn't ping me to your second post.
Your behavior is weak, my Friend.
And Donald Trump is no conservative. That's really not too hard to see.
Gee ... however will I get through today (with you being disappointed with me and all ...) Lighten up, sport ... I didn’t fail to ping you on purpose!
