Any candidate is going to face a lot of leftist ploys in the general election so they might as well get used to it now. Compared to some of the other ploys, this one was nothing special.

The underlying question here is "Donald, you can be kind of a jerk sometimes and your mouth gets you in to trouble. How do you respond?" That's pretty forward and impolite, so it's natural that the question would get asked in a different way. Probably not the best way.
