GOP presidential hopeful Donald Trump and his supporters are crying foul over what they consider to be tough treatment by Fox News and in particular Megyn Kelly at Thursday night's debate. They are calling for a ban on Kelly at future GOP showdowns.
For anyone who watched even the first few minutes of the first 2016 Republican presidential candidate debate Thursday night, it was clear that Fox News was out to sandbag Trump. Taking to social media after the debate, it was clear that "The Donald" was far from pleased with the conservative news network.
When the highly anticipated debate of the crowded field of Republican presidential hopefuls began, the first question, asked by the team of Fox News personalities who acted as the evening's moderators, was clearly aimed at one of the ten contenders on stage.
"Is there anyone on stage, and can I see hands, who is unwilling tonight to pledge your support to the eventual nominee of the Republican Party and pledge to not run an independent campaign against that person," asked Fox News' Bret Baier.
The lone hand that went up was that of frontrunner Donald Trump, who is enjoying a double-digit lead in the polls. Trump's move prompted both cheers and jeers from the audience in Cleveland and gave his challengers their first opportunity to jump on the billionaire former TV reality show star.
"Maybe he runs as an independent," said Sen. Rand Paul, who is trailing Trump by 20 points. "He's already hedging his bets."
"That question -- statement was absolutely aimed at me," Trump said during a phone interview on "Fox and Friends" Friday morning, adding "I didn't think it was appropriate, but that's OK."
The second obvious slam to Trump came from Fox's Megyn Kelly whose question was neither about policy nor politics, but about the thrice married businessman's history of calling women he doesn't like "fat pigs, dogs, slobs, and disgusting animals." Kelly further noted an instance on Trump's reality show "The Apprentice" where he alluded to seeing a female contestant on her knees.
Hmmm... We’re no on Facebook. Would I still be able to read the comments if I’m not a member?
I did not like the tone of the questions directed to Trump, nor did I like the angry expressions of the moderator who asked the gotcha questions...specifically Ms Kelly.
As soon as the debate started, it was “whack” right away in angry tone towards Trump. It was intentional because Fox wanted to show how objective they are. It didn’t work.
I’ve already instituted a personal ban on I’m-in-love-with-myself-kelly.
Did you really expect a straight forward debate in light of the “Trump” hype? ....People tuned in because of the hype about Trump so of course Fox was going to present the “show” the masses were drawn to regarding him......and they led with just that.
It was up to Trump how he responded...it’s not like he didn’t know this was going to take place.
Were the questions to Trump more than just colored?...of course they were...and expected. ...but few if any expected this to happen right ‘of the top’...none moreso than Trump were surprised. His body language showed it before he spoke...it threw his game and was done to do just that.
I think he handled it ok......but he “let it” once again put him on the defensive. Quite something that Kasich saw the obvious and soon undergirded Trump.
I say let the candidates handle however they will....regardless of how lowbrow the Fox hosts might get. Hillaries team is going to throw some serious punches as well and they need to be ready for anything.
“I wouldnt be that six-grade goofy if Tom Selleck came to my door”
So you would be adult and discreet with him then,,,,? ;)
(okay okay! just kidding!) Your posting was funny but left an opening for a good ribbing!
I saw a debate but I didn’t watch it from the
wwaaaaaahhhh! room like some fidgety bedwetters did.
How ‘bout you?
The debate I saw was great for the GOP side.
It will be pretty difficult for the liberal
butt kissing networks not to exhibit their
brown noses when they proctor the Dem’Rat
debates.
Will be interesting seeing Coulter’s reaction next she’s on Hannity???
“So you would be adult and discreet with him then,,,,?”
Most definitely. Our little secret!
She likes Sean’s program because he is not too bright and she dominates his broadcast. He is a good guy and a nice guy. He isn’t too much on original thought however.
Rush is going into the Megyn/GOPe hit connection now.
I’m not crazy about Trump as a presidential candidate (I don’t trust him), but that question of Kelly’s was waaay out of line and a low blow. It should have had no place in a political debate...and Kelly just outted herself as a partisan hack POS in my opinion. She could have asked him anything about his past donations, political affiliations, comments, etc....anything BUT that. Fox News just screwed the pooch last nite.
I think so. Facebook.com. And search for Megyn Kelly. She has two one personal the other indicates FOX
They think they were perfect. You can contact them by email or at FB
Found the FB thread. Wow! 100% hatred for Megyn. Epic fail on her part.
Fox is spinning like crazy. Saw a couple places. Did fox consider the booing at first question was not DT raising hand but booing unfair question
I think that’s the conventional wisdom, and of course your wife may see Trump that way and be turned of by it.
Look at John McCain. Trump comes off nowhere hear as mean spirited. McCain got the nomination.
I would like to point out a difference between these men also.
McCain would get viscerally angry, even scowling at times.
Trump says most things with a smile on his face. He’s not a typical angry person.
Exactly what did you learn about the candidates positions that you did not already know?
That part seems to be accurate.
To paraphrase Andrew Dice Clay: Why doesnt Megyn wear a watch? Because theres a clock on the [effin] oven!
LOL!
FUnny takes on last night. All the media elites thought Fox and Megyn were the ‘winners.’ And they all claimed Trump was the ‘loser.’ YET, you follow the FB pages for Fox/Kelly and it surely seems the general public saw things quite another way.
At least now Megyn will get invited to the “A” parties. She’s made her bones and is in with the in crowd.
