The Fox News moderators went after Trump harder than any of his opponents during last nights debate. He started the debate on the defensive over his refusal to rule out an independent bid. Megyn Kelly, one of three moderators, then memorably pushed him on his history of misogynistic comments: Youve called women you dont like fat pigs, dogs, slobs, and disgusting animals. Later, she wondered when he decided to become a Republican and asked about his flip-flops on abortion. The other moderators, Chris Wallace and Breit Baier, forced Trump to defend his past support for a single-payer health-care system, his contributions to Hillary Clinton and the bankruptcies of his companies. They also pressed him for evidence that the Mexican government is sending criminals over the border.
There is mixed evidence about how much of a toll these moments, which would be fatal for any normal candidate, will take on Trumps image. But it seems very possible that last night was a tipping point in the Republican nominating contest. Frank Luntzs post-debate focus group, which aired live on Fox, found many voters who supported Trump going into the two-hour event turning on him. Buzz on the cable network and across most conservative web sites broke decidedly negative, including from commentators who have been sympathetic.

Let’s not forget Chris Wallace’s awful performance - continually smirking at Trump. I mean, this guy would probably be selling hot dogs if his father wasn’t who he was.
Ouch! All I would add is that he’s bald, too, and is too cheap to buy a good toup.
Right on!
The moderators should not even be in the news this morning. The debate was among 9 politicians and a businessman.
The use of the platform by the moderators as if it was a regular Fox program with the pumping up of each others egos, while ignoring anyone off camera, was disgusting. The fact that the 9 politicians and 1 businessman were off-camera so much of the time was disgusting.
Shame of Fox.
They just bragged about themselves on Facebook and boy! Were they lambasted by the great unwashed. Bragging about how great they were. Weird.
Fox “News”, Kelly and co, attacting Trump is going to hurt Trump?
Anyhow, that wasn’t a debate. Its sad that this ametuerish display, on Fox’s part, was the candidates introduction to the masses.
If the left, the media, and the dems are happy with the debate last night... that pretty much tells the story on Fox’s dismal failure at being fair and balanced in that debate.
Disappointed in all 3 moderators... they had a goal last night to take Trump out and stir up trouble.. they did not plan on an informative debate.
The news media goes from bad to worse.. I can’t listen to them brag about ratings over their dirty tricks.
Let me see if I understand this.
Trump is being pummeled for contributing to democrats.
But the Republican donors are doing the same thing by hedging their bets and contributing to Hillary and the Republicans but everyone looks the other way.
What have I missed here?
The notion that any big-city businessman donates to both parties should be a given, especially in NYC. Trump exposes it as bribe money. I think it’s a pretty good object lesson.
You’re right, because the leftmedia has been very successful in attacking men along those lines. Happily for Trump he happens to have a long term history of promoting women to positions of great power and respect in his organization long before it was fashionable.
He should work on delivery in that respect. It’s more important that he talk to the TV audience than the schmendricks launching the attacks. He should watch some old Reagan debates.
Being a right wing conspiracy theorist just makes you two steps ahead of the crowd. Wear the label with pride. The dark days of expectations of political correctness I think are drawing to a close.
I’m one of those people who doesn’t need lots of sleep. Yes, it is possible for me to keep burning for something important for 48 hours solid. I don’t like it and try to avoid it because of the health impact but if I’m sufficiently keyed up its gonna happen anyways.
While I don’t particularly approve of boorish behavior directed at women or men, there is something to be said for giving as well as you get if its directed at you.
I don’t think many FReepers are engaged in a personal exchange of hostilities with people in the news.
Wonder if Megyn is the foul mouth one Fuckabee was speaking of???
I heard Rush say this morning that he doesn’t think Donald is doing the tweeting either - he said he doesn’t even use email. Funny how Rush brought that up after I questioned it early this morning.
Either he is doing it or someone is doing it on his behalf. Either way he owns them.
