Do you really think Jeb’s conversion to Catholicism was genuine? I always assumed it was a just political move to play for the Hispanic vote which, for all his pandering, doesn’t seem to be working out so well for him either.
I believe it was genuine insomuch as he believes he really is a Catholic, and converted because he really believes it's the true religion of Christ. I believe this because there were rumblings about his brother converting after having met with Benedict XVIth a few times. So it's not that much of a stretch to believe his conversion was ultimately genuine (it seems interest in the religion runs in the family). The fact that it (may) help his appeal to Hispanics is a bonus in his mind I'm sure. But not the reason he converted.
As BarbM pointed out though, he's not really a Catholic, if he hasn't confessed and repented of the sinful way he treated Teri Schiavo. In other words, if he really believes he did right by her, he's a CINO, a cafeteria Catholic, picking and choosing which dogmas to follow and when. Much like "Catholics" who use contraception.
