When economists wander way from what they know (economics) into political and social sciences, they wind up in the weeds. Doesn’t matter if they’re bad guys like Krugman or good guys like Sowell.

So people don’t trust Donald Trump but they trust Hillary? I am so confused.

I prefer Cruz but you’re probably right.

I am still not sure that Trump cannot win. However, if Thomas Sowell says something, I listen.

A Trump / Cruz ticket would be worth it just to watch the liberals heads explode.

Sowell, usually insightful is using the GOPe arguments against Trump, don’t think he understand this.

Hillary can’t get her broom lit-Donald sucking all her oxygen!

I hear this fading voice saying look at me, look at me, look at meeee and the mental picture I get is Hillary bent over, trying to light her broom to get going and Donald in his jumbo jet flying overhead, sucking all the oxygen from her as he goes by in his big jet.

Me thinks the political class should be more concerned about the image their base has of the republican party, not the image the democrat base has.

Oh no! Not the Hillary boogie man! Hillary is unlikely to be the nominee and besides, she’s no worse than any other establishment candidate.

Walker is just Another Bought Off Gope puppet.

He is the RNC's boy and in fact he hires from this anti conservative snake pit ! We do not need another RNC — Billionaire Puppet candidate.

Walker has hired the loser Establishment Romney team and Snake Dayspring the RNC Smear expert.
Then there is George Will and his wife who is Walkers Communication person .
Nothing is more DC elites and Gop insiders than The Wills !
We have had Enough of these Owned GOP hacks like Walker.

but that his irresponsible talk will become the image of the Republican party

LOL....like the GOPe has such a sterling reputation to tarnish.

Kind of surprised at Sowell on this, I do respect his opinion immensely though.

Sadly, a great and long term conservative, Thomas Sowell, will be trashed for not championing Trump’s chumps with the idea that all it takes to be a conservative is to quit giving money to Pelosi, Reid, Schumer, and Hillary, change your party, and be obnoxious and attention seeking. What does Sowell know about conservatism compared to this dilettante who won’t explain a single one of his policies beyond “trust me?” Actually, he Sowell is a great and brilliant man, but Trump’s type of leadership means no doubts, no thinking, and no vetting.

If the pubbies can’t accept Trump and they can’t figure out that stopping baby killing is more important than their political careers, then “What difference does it make, anyway?”
They can either grow a pair of prepare for a dictatorship.

.

Donald Trump has virtually no chance of becoming even the Republican party’s candidate in 2016 ...

much less being elected President of the United States.

At this point "anyone" who embraces the above "theory" should be defined as the "enemy" of American Conservatism ...

Donald Trump scares the living HELL out of the Washington DC Beltway Cartel ...

If it weren't for Donald Trump's activity in the 2016 GOP Presidential race ...

the daily "Fox News Cycle" would be DOMINATED by reports about "grand" statesmen as Yeb Bush, Lindsey Graham ... and their lap dogs like Scott Walker and John Kasisch ...

Is Donald Trump flawed ?

Yes ... just like Winston Churchill, George Patton, Jr. and Maggie Thatcher ...

Scott Walker needs to invite Donald Trump to dinner to "mend fences" ... swallow his "Wisconsin Wonder Boy" pride ...

and get "anchored" to the Conservative side in the 2016 GOP Presidential election ...

If my very life were at stake, and I had to pick either the advice of Donald Trump ...

or Scott Walker, John Kasisch, Lindey Graham (etc) ...

I'd get MY answer from Donald Trump.

Period.

Perhaps that's WHY Donald Trump continues to surge ... people TRUST him ...

This would not be the first time the Clintons used a straw man to win an election.

Remember Ross Perot who ran as a third party candidate against George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton?

Trump’s popularity is highest among voters who see themselves as conservative. Since conservatives are generally smarter than the general population and more politically aware, I would say this bodes well for Trump’s chances.

When there is a small army of Republican candidates, each with a tiny set of supporters, anyone with enough name recognition to get the support of a fifth or a fourth of the Republicans polled stands out...

Does not the "Bush" name have as much name recognition as the "Trump" name? Sowell is a brilliant man but I think he is off track here.

but that his irresponsible talk will become the image of the Republican party, and that his bombast will drown out more sober voices that need to be heard, thereby making it harder to select the best candidate.

Obviously Sowell isn't as wise as I was led to believe...I wonder how many more of his opinions turn out to be just blather...
