Was out Saturday night (in Charlotte, NC), asked 4 different girls in their early 20s what they thought about Cecil the Lion. Only one of them knew what I was talking about. The other 3 had no clue.

Give them a free cell phone, food, cash benefits, housing, and healthcare and they will only care about what they are told to care about.
We could feed aborted babies to zoo lions in America after harvesting the good parts, and as long as that EBT card works and the obamaphone still gets service, we only care if the masters inform us of why to be outraged and at what at.

These “Cecil threads” have served the purpose of outing some real liberals among us, or as they’d probably prefer to be called, “compassionate conservatives”.

I’m starting to come to the conclusion that prosperity breeds insanity.
I’m starting to wonder if the struggle to survive doesn’t keep us more closely-hewed to reality.

First of all, don’t name wild animals (is Cecil something somebody from Zimbabwe would name an animal?) Secondly the outrage is definitely a First World thing. Lions eat people in Africa. Is there some African group calling for Lion-control?

The people also know that lions eat people.
And all the other critters threaten the people, too.

So were George Eastman and teddy Roosevelt.

Basic premise of this guy's book. This is a fascinating interview if you feel like listening to something non-political.

Even if you don't like Molyneux, the interview is more about the author and his thesis.

So were George Eastman and teddy Roosevelt.Yeah, timing is so important.
It probably seemed exotic at the time and now it just seems weird. Hopefully, having a second doctor in the news will probably help take some of the heat off of the first one. I'm sure the dentist would like to have his life back soon.

Poor, you say? Hungry? In...
Zimbabwe you say?
Perhaps you could get yourself some vittles in neighboring Rhodesia?

Apparently this was legal when Teddy Roosevelt did it...

It seemed weird then to the exact same demographic that thinks it is weird now.

Just think of the horror - killing a living being just for personal gratification.

Its so cruel, but I dont understand the whole fuss, there are so many pressing issues in Zimbabwe we have water shortages, no electricity, and no jobs yet people are making noise about a lion? said Eunice Vhunise, a Harare resident. I saw Cecil once when I visited the game park. I will probably miss him. But honestly the attention is just too much. White liberal elites love to showcase how 'compassionate' they are... Their concern isn't for the lion it's for themselves - and how they 'look' in the glory of their 'feelings'.... Get a clue Eunice Vhunise...
