USDA Seeking to Double High Ethanol Blend Gas Pumps
CNSNews.com ^ | May 29, 2015 | Eric Scheiner

(CNSNews.com) - The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced Friday it is investing up to $100 million in biofuels with the goal “to double the number of fuel pumps capable of supplying higher blends of renewable fuel to consumers, such as E15 and E85.”

“A typical gas pump can deliver fuel that contains a maximum 10% ethanol (E10), which limits the amount of renewable energy most consumers can purchase at the pump, despite the fact that our farmers now produce record amounts of renewable biofuels,” the USDA press release says.

“This new investment seeks to double the number of fuel pumps capable of supplying higher blends of renewable fuel to consumers, such as E15 and E85.”

The USDA announcement coincided with an EPA proposed rule change on Friday, which would reduce the amount of corn-based ethanol blended into the gasoline supply from what was originally planned under the 2007 federal law.

“Due to constraints in the fuel market to accommodate increasing volumes of ethanol, along with limits on the availability of non-ethanol renewable fuels, the volume targets specified by Congress in the Clean Air Act for 2014, 2015 and 2016 cannot be achieved,” the EPA proposal says.

Some automobiles and smaller engines can be damaged by the use of ethanol blends.

“There is no damage, if aluminum corrosion occurs it is probably from the absorbed water.”

One of the major problems with ethanol is that when stored too long moisture accumulates (note: never buy gas from a station that has low inventory turn-over).

Might I guess that you don't have much experience in:

1) raising corn,

2) feeding cattle, or

3) distilling Bourbon? I say this not as an insult, but merely to suggest that all corn is not created equal.

Yeah, and probably don’t “fill it up” unless you are planning to use most of it right away.

The station storage tanks are vented to the atmosphere, and they pull in air as the gas gets pumped out. I don’t think they have driers on the inlet vents.

That’s how water gets into your vehicle’s fuel system.

You Lie:

Walker on ethanol, March 7, 2015

“While I do not support the mandate, I do not have a problem with ethanol...”

“However, it is clear to me that a big government mandate is not the way to support the farmers of this state...”

“Central planning will not help our family farmers, protect our environment, or provide jobs.”

“The free enterprise system must drive innovation to relieve our dependence on foreign oil, not mandates from the state or federal government.”

Yeah, he just doesn’t want to phase out the mandate at any time into the future:

Just as all corns are not created equal, not all fields are created equal either. Inappropriate incentives to misappropriate resources has negative effects on the total National System. Growing corn to burn in gasoline vehicles in the US makes zer0 sense today.

It’s all over the Internet. It would be nice if you would stop
“setting me straight on” something you’re wrong about:

From your link, and at the very end of the article:
Walker said (in 2006), “It is clear to me that a big government mandate is not the way to support the farmers of this state. ... The free enterprise system must drive innovation to relieve our dependence on foreign oil, not mandates from the state or federal government.”

++++++++

Nine years later, on March 7, 2015, Walker reiterated his earlier position:

“While I do not support the mandate, I do not have a problem with ethanol...”

“However, it is clear to me that a big government mandate is not the way to support the farmers of this state...”

“Central planning will not help our family farmers, protect our environment, or provide jobs.”

“The free enterprise system must drive innovation to relieve our dependence on foreign oil, not mandates from the state or federal government.”

Blah, blah, blah. The point is that he won’t identify a time to phase it out. His rhetoric doesn’t match his stated plans and actions. He’s an ethanol sellout for the Iowa vote.

You have nothing.

I’m the one who has provided specific quotes both from years ago, and from this year.

No, no, no—I’ve given you multiple article links and here’s another: http://www.politifact.com/wisconsin/statements/2015/mar/13/scott-walker/scott-walker-loves-hates-federal-ethanol-mandate/

He used to oppose mandates, but now, when speaking at the Iowa Ag Summit, he says he would continue the current mandates and not in any way curtail them—except for at some unidentified time well into the future.

He sold out on ethanol, but as his usual way (such as now claiming he didn’t support amnesty and citizenship for illegals) he surrounds it with meaningless, meant-to-be-distracting-and-misleading verbiage.

He clearly told Iowans he would not roll back the EPA mandates.

Yes, you have given me multiple articles, just as I can give you hundreds of articles which say Donald Trump called all Mexicans rapists and murderers.

The difficulty, of course, would be to find an article which gives the actual quote of Trump saying all Mexicans are murderers and rapists.

You are faced with that same challenge when it comes to Walker and ethanol.

Sorry, pal—I’ve got direct quotes from Walker and his people in the articles.

Bringing up misquotes on Trump is a complete red herring.

Since Walker tries to deceive would-be voters, I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised that his fervent defenders here follow suit.

I sell my crops to the highest bidder. If the marketplace has a need which is greater than that of corn for ethanol feedstock, the bid price will reflect it.
