Sanctuary Cities for Conservatives? With the way things are going, it's going to be needed.
American Thinker ^ | 08/01/2015 | Gary Bauer

“Sanctuary cities” have been in the headlines for weeks.

Late last week, the House of Representatives voted to strip federal funds from sanctuary cities, which refuse to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement efforts. And in early July, an illegal immigrant who had been deported five times and convicted of seven felonies shot and killed a young woman while she was walking with her father and a friend along a pier in San Francisco, a city famous for its sanctuary policies.

Sanctuary cities have existed for decades – the first one was established in Los Angeles in 1979 – as places of asylum for refugees and others in the country illegally. By one count, there are more than 200 sanctuary cities in 32 states and the District of Columbia.

The recent San Francisco murder has prompted renewed scrutiny of sanctuary cities. But while most of the debate has focused on the legal and political ramifications, I’d like to offer the following thought experiment: what if there were sanctuary cities for religious conservatives?

Imagine if some city in red-state America – perhaps Little Rock, Arkansas; Dallas, Texas; or Bowling Green, Kentucky – decided to be a refuge for unborn children and refused to grant business licenses to abortion clinics.

What if a city decided that it was going to be a sanctuary city for the Ten Commandments and displayed them in schools, libraries, and the county courthouse?

What if a city decided that it was important for children to have mothers and fathers, declared itself a sanctuary city for traditional marriage, and refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples?

I’m kidding, but only slightly. A glance at the news headlines underscores the growing need for a place of refuge for conservatives.

They outnumber us by a LOT. That’s why.

I do wish we could have a few states and it be just us.

The thing is that we don’t need it to come to that. All we have to do is stop hiring them, funding them and doing business with them to the greatest extent we can.

Unemployed, starving and frozen liberals would get compliant quickly.

If every right winger dropped cable tomorrow, by Friday there would be a whole new America. And thats one topic alone. I think we could handle that little incontinence.

I think conservatives should get serious about taking up a craft or trade and getting good at it so we can deal with each other and no one else.

Totally agree. The thing is that we already have that. We just need to ‘do’ that.

I completely agree. The best way to win this war is to kill the PC myth by exposing it for what is is - lying to excuse bad behavior, expose the Alinskyte methods and educate the public about them, enage in civil disobedience on unjust laws, and to remove funding anyway we can by whether using legislation to kill porkbarrel spending, investigating and exposing corruption and alerting people to it to demand change. We also need to reach across the aisle to people of all races and show them the conservative movement is about values that made America great, that we share common interests, and that its about good vs evil, not skin color.

Its going to take some effort but we can do it.

I consider myself hard right. I could care less what color a person is. Never have. Never will. I suspect most like me feel that way. It’s sort of part of WHY we are hard right to begin with. Actions define, not color. Actions are what matter, not origin.

If the moderates/left ever realizes that, we’d have a lot of players on the team.

Drive all the libs into Long Island and dynamite the bridges and tunnels. Let them live in their libera filth with their own kind. Does that sound harsh?

My uncle had a house there. Built it about probably 50 years ago. About 30 years ago he added a deck.

He sold it 2 years ago after a drawn out and costly battle with the state over his 30 year old deck not having permits for laws that were not even a dream when he built it.

How about California? They should all love it there. Hey, they could build a corridor to Mexico!

I always suspected it was over, but I never believed it in my heart until the demonic ghouls in charge began defending the baby butchery.

It HAS to happen.

No we need the ports. Put them all in the frozen NE in one square mile area stacked on top of each other like chickens in crates.

Then they could all shiite on each other and squaaaack til their hearts are content.

That is my dream for a liberal utopia

Sweet dream for a liberal utopia in the frozen NE. They could watch the ice not melt.

Didn’t think about the ports, oops, but we would have other ports -

Down here in Louisiana, Texas, the whole Gulf Coast.

Almost 10 years back, I was travelling to meet up with my brother and some friends and another friend's place ouside of Spokane. Because I worked for the RR, I had been able to ride the head end of a BNSF freight train from Havre, Montana, up through Glacier National Park across the continental divide through Marias Pass, and on down into Whitefish. As spectacular as it was, the trip also included the drive from Whitefish to Spokane, and I took the scenic route up to within a few miles of the Canadian border in Eureka, then back south to Libby along Lake Koocanusa, then back northwest up to Bonner's Ferry, down south through Sandpoint and on over into Spokane.

Spectacular scenery out there.

Sorry to hear that your hopes were thwarted.

I don’t think there is a single city in North America where conservatives are the majority. And I don’t mean libertarians or Randroids.

I don’t have anything in common with anyone who could support Planned Infanticide.
There was a nun in a thread above pimping them! The center that holds things together—it’s gone.

Maryland is completely misrepresented on that map.

Only a small circle of gangrenous flesh surrounding the Dc/Balto area is actually blue.

And NoVa is a liberal hell hole and Muslim enclave.
