Actually it is the opposite. She/he wants to turn her/his ‘extra X chromosome’ into a Y chromosome. Can’t be done, of course.
Actually is I were a female in the Muslim faith, perhaps I too would consider transitioning into a male. No future on being a female in that ideology, only looked upon as a slave or an animal.

Yep. The story says she and her mother had to wear hijabs that covered them completely with only their eyes showing. Maybe that type of treatment explains why she grew up wanting to be a man.
