Former president Jimmy Carter said Tuesday on the nationally syndicated radio show the Thom Hartmann Program that the United States is now an “oligarchy” in which “unlimited political bribery” has created “a complete subversion of our political system as a payoff to major contributors.”
Both Democrats and Republicans, Carter said, “look upon this unlimited money as a great benefit to themselves.”
Carter was responding to a question from Hartmann about recent Supreme Court decisions on campaign financing like Citizens United. …

Actually, Jimmah is speaking the truth here. He should know.
The problem with him is selective vision. He almost certainly believes that this is primarily a VWRC problem, and that the Clintons are mostly OK.

I don’t agree with much of what he says but he is actually right on this point. Even a blind hog stumbles onto an acorn occasionally.
Elections are bought and sold and vote buying is the name of the game. The Dems are the worst although they are supposedly for the “little guy.” Sheer nonsense. Most of them are uber wealthy. The rest of us peons are the ones getting the bill. The super wealthy can pay very high taxes and still have enough to live three more lifetimes on their riches.
