Donald Trump has something new to crow about.
The latest numbers from the Reuters/Ipsos five-day tracking poll has boastful billionaire as the presidential choice of almost 30 percent of Republicans surveyeda stratospheric mark given the fragmented presidential field.
Hes hitting a new high with the first Republican debate just days away: Aug. 6, in Cleveland, Ohio, where coverage of Trump before, during, and after the contest is likely grow even more feverish given the new numbers.
Trumps current surgehes been gaining strength meteorically all week, according to the pollhas knocked his closest rival, Jeb Bush, back behind him by almost 20 points. Bush sits at 11 percent, with the rest of contenders gasping for air at less than 8 percent.
At a week ago this time, the Reuters/Ipsos poll had Trump at just 15 percent.

‘Cruz is falling like a rock over the last week in this poll. Really? Why? “
What did Cruz do that week? Therein might lie the answer.
couple of choices i would flip...Cruz as VP and Palin as head of Interior. Carly can and should fit in somewhere. Michael Berry from Texas as press Sec. UNSTOPABLE!
By what metric is Cruz doing well?
Choosing Senate majority leader isn’t really up to the executive branch.
Trump stays on top while the rest of the field catches up to Jebbie! Loving it! Can’t wait for Cruz to pass Jeb,,that will be reason for a party right there!
All of these polls have been biased...anyone, without an agenda, can see that.
Glad you agree that they FEAR ONLY Cruz...
Proust, you are paid for by Trump...I get it.
Breitbart said just the other day that Cruz was surging underneath...and now you cite a Reuters poll of 450 people as law?
LMAO!
BTW, I guess Cruz is terrible...since his fund raising numbers are so low, right?
You may not like this poll, but it does show a very good trend for Trump, which is reflected by almost all polls if not all in recent days. Trump’s trending up in polls. For Cruz I wouldn’t sweat it.
Stage one is Denial.
Was that when she said, “I used to date Latino men, but now I’m into consensual sex.”?
What makes you think Cruz and Trump are working against each other? Certainly not anything either has said.
Yep Newt understood what to do with DUmb gotcha type question. Also consider giving the WTF facial expressions back at the reporters.
The worst the candidate can do is make it a wash where it does not hurt the candidate, or score good like Newt did. :-)
Exactly, there's no evidence to suggest otherwise.
I don't know prompted Faux Special Report to put up this a while back but I swear I heard a gasp come from some of the panel members. lol
What I personally would like to see from Trump and his campaign is a lot less bluster and bombast and a lot more policy and substance which I think is noticeably lacking in the Trump campaign.
Take taxes-—Does he favor the Fair Tax? Does he favor the flat tax? What does he think of our current corporate income tax rate-—the highest in the industrial world? I have no idea.
What is his position on the minimum wage?
What about the Export-Import Bank?
What is his position on Obamacare? Does he favor repealing it? If so, what type of system would he like to see in its place? I have no idea.
How would Trump deal with our $18 trillion national debt?
How would Trump deal with entitlement programs?
I have no idea. I would love to know.
What programs, what cabinet departments, would Trump repeal?
Which ones would he turn over to the states?
Once again I have no idea.
The whole thing is just a circus in my eyes.
If I could see some REAL reform and some substantive policy positions, I could change my mind.
I am ALWAYS skeptical of people who for the presidency as their very first elective office.
I would love to be convinced Trump isn’t a charlatan and a loose cannon.
I am very concerned about his past donations to the Clintons. What was he thinking?
I live in CA. Our primary is dead last in June. The race will probably be decided anyways before I get to vote on it.
Trump - 31%
Cruz - 8%
Walker - 8%
Cool, thanks for the post.
Funny, Trump is running so well with Conservatives when he isn’t one.
This bodes well for Cruz though...
How can he “trend” in polls when only 460 people were polled without any other information? This trend is outside of the recent Trump polls too...he is strong, but 25% was his thresh hold.
This isn’t the first time this has been mentioned...
For awhile now, Trump has been at about 60% underwater...
I don’t think that they aren’t working together...but I think Trump is working more for Trump.
