LONDON (Reuters) - With his distressed hairstyle, voluptuous female companions and love of the media spotlight, U.S. tycoon Donald Trump is no stranger to people on this side of the Atlantic.
But his bid to become president of the United States has got people scratching their heads.
Seen by many as a kind of cartoon character despite his business successes, "The Donald" has baffled and angered in equal measure with a series of controversial comments.
His remarks that many Mexican immigrants were rapists were widely reported in Europe and generally considered beyond the pale.

It’s not easy being nuanced and urbane.
They swooned over Obama in 2008, so much for their opinions.
European elites DESPISED Ronald Reagan too. Remember? Hated with a fury. But not the people. When the press says “Europe” they mean their Eurotrash friends.
A very, very good sign.
Did some short time in Europe (three months in Finland, Holland, and France) in 1985.
Except for my few conservative friends, most people laughed at the mere mention of Reagan's name. He was widely seen as a clown, a poseur, a buffoon.
Indeed the European's ridicule now is a testimonial to Trump's great potential as POTUS.
BooYa!
Europe the lost continent. Who cares?
All those Euros know about Mexico is the Potemkin village of Cancun, which handles DOZENS of flights daily from Europe and especially during the winter. They come out of there thinking it’s just as nice as Cuba! /s;)
This from a bunch of socialist countries that thought an EU, where the less productive countries are dragging down the rest, was a great idea!
I’d say if they think we are doing the right thing, it’s time to change course!
“Yeah, because Greece, massive Islamic immigration, two world wars, high unemployment and the Balkans aside, theyre a model of efficiency.
Greece is an economic train wreck, but its not their electoral system thats to blame. And I dont think Greece is plagued by serious Moslem immigration. As for the World Wars and Balkan unrest, thats not their fault. Germany, Russia and Turkey all have their historical hands in that.”
2ndDiv didn’t tie all those things together - you did a weird misinterpretation. They are separate line items. And he never even mentioned Greece’s electoral system.
If Europe (Germany) wasn’t at fault for the first 2 World Wars, you must be reading some revisionist history.
I’m sure Dominic DeVillepin won’t really enjoy having absolutely no say in where or when US Armed Forces are deployed. Even worse, if he does want them deployed, being given a bill...

And these posts are not meant to be read as “line items” like some bill; they’re a seamless web. And he certainly implied that Greece’s electoral system was to blame. No hard feelings. :-)
“And these posts are not meant to be read as line items like some bill; theyre a seamless web. “
Don’t think so. His list of items was not related to each other. Each one was independent of the others. One of your arguments was that they did not relate to each other - as if they were meant to.
I guess you are a Bush/Walker/Rubio supporter, so think Europe’s take is correct? Being devout socialists, and having economies in the tank, they are just jealous of our success and want us to follow in their declining footsteps. And almost all of the candidates will aid in our demise.
Wow, how can you stand living there then? I guess you just keep your opinions to yourself?
We left Mexifornia because we couldn’t stand all the liberals.
I didn’t think he was in power any more?

Er, except, Anus McSwoon, his remarks about Mexican immigrants were, well not about Mexican immigrants, but rather illegal aliens.
Despite you on the Left saying otherwise, there is a HUGE difference.
Americans are fed up with it, frankly.
Share THAT with your Euroweenies.
I’m not up on Dominic’s career, but he represented the multi-polar ideology of the European political class. Trump, like Reagan, is more polar.
>>>So it is not surprising that the left-wing media in Europe caricatures Donald Trump but it is also sad that we have someone who makes it so easy for them<<<
Well, I guess that Ted Cruz would be more to their liking, right? They would piss their Euroweenie Panties if he won.
Just another Right Wing Nutcase to scare them to death just like Reagan did when he took on the Soviet Union.
Unless it’s Bernie or Hillary, the Euroweenies won’t be happy, not that I give a Rats A$$ what those Pussies think.
Glad to hear it!
