Because Trump understands media. First he does all this media knowing that he will be labeled unserious blah,blah,blah. At the same time he is working on his blueprint. A book like this cannot be put together in 2 months. He has been working on it for a while.
Since everyone has labeled him a clown and unserious, now he releases his blue print. Now everyone is going to go read it.
Trump knows he cannot explain his plan in sound bites. He already knew this. He has now laid out his plan.

Why should Trump spend money getting his message out, when the media will do it for him? And when the media does it, it attacks him making him just that much more popular.
Can’t get that from simply buying adds or telling someone to go read your thoughts.
