Has Donald Trump made his first serious boo-boo of the campaign?
For weeks, the media have trumpeted the supposed death of the Trump campaign. First, they claimed, Trumps campaign imploded on launch thanks to his comments about illegal immigration. Then they claimed that Trump was finished because of his slap at Senator Sen. John McCain (R-AZ)43% s (R-AZ) war service. But neither of those comments alienated Trumps base hes maintained his seven point lead over Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker in the 2016 presidential polls, with no other candidate breaking double-digits in the polls. In fact, his original comments about illegal immigration launched his candidacy to prominence, with many Americans relieved that a major candidate had finally touched the media third rail and talked openly about illegal immigrant criminality.
Now, however, Trump may have damaged himself with the very people excited by his candidacy. Asked point blank about his immigration policy, Trump dropped the brashness and the blurting, and suddenly went completely Hillary-vague on CNN. After blathering about deporting criminal illegal immigrants even President Obama pays lip service to this idea Trump continued:

Ah com’on you can insult me better than that! LOL
Attacked you? If I ever attack you Ed you will get the difference. I was just giving back to you what you so amply dish out and setting you straight on your misguided strategy in the world of actually winning the nomination to prevent Bush “the establishment” candidate.
Yes our takes on Trump are different, I care about what he is advocating today and believe he has embraced conservatism because he loves this country and is afraid of our future if drastic measures are not taken right now.
But the number one thing I am saying is, that right now Trump is the only one who can beat Bush and Hilliary. If Cruz comes on later and gets to position where that is true of him I will reevaluate what I think is best way to proceed to Bush’s and Hilliary’s defeat.
His groupies don't care about that, in fact they don't want details.
They want the fantasy.
The Dream of a President kick butts Trump (or If only Trump ran.. ) | 5/19/2011 |
Read his books, he has been giving details on exactly how to make America great again, with research on to back up those details, for years.
Great idea, thanks to you I can see he is a Marxist.
Trump advocated for universal healthcare in his 2000 book, The America We Deserve, writing that the goal should be to “make reforms for the moment and, longer term, to find an equivalent of the single-payer plan that is affordable, well-administered, and provides freedom of choice.”
Trump 'just another liberal'?(April 18, 2011)
No thanks, I will pass on books promoting communism.
You left out ‘humble and self-effacing’.
Hillary's thinking the same thing and not liking it. Of course she's not liking much of anything lately.
From way back it was supposed to be Bush vs Hillary. After all, they were the well connected party heavy weights, it was their turn. Bet Trump saw it too. I was convinced over a year ago.
....because in the realm of political debate, I”m not......
In other more important areas of life....perhaps.
Well at least you're leaving the snark at home and making reasonable arguments. However, I don't think you are tracking with what I am saying. I'm not convinced he has embraced conservatism. It's too soon to know. And I don't think, short of one or two issues, he understands the conservative measures that need to be taken. He has tacitly endorsed Dodd Frank for example. And I further totally dispute the notion that he's the only one who can beat Bush....then Clinton.
And my other point is, if he beats Bush, then governs in many ways left of Bush, what have you accomplished exactly?
LOL..
You forgot when they try to be extra cute and throw in YUGE. We will continue to hammer away. Trump is being exposed...slowly. The only thing propping him up are phony polls.
I can’t wait until the debate. If we think that Trump rambles now, wait until he gets into the limelight.
.,OUCH....that’s gonna leave a mark......
You are 100% correct!
Funny, I can’t get any actual responses from them when challenged.
The books I like from Trump relate to real estate...
But, don’t tell his followers that he ascribes to Leftist thought...
Donald is perfect, remember?
You can just ignore all the liberal stuff from the Gospel of Trump, like so many unwanted bible verses, maybe it was mistranslated from Trumpese, maybe it’s just obsolete because he’s “evolved” into a conservative just like Mitt Romney.
Those of us who know the truth and who aren’t blinded by someone speaking out, aren’t ignoring Trump...
His supporters are. Good post, Impy
I have come to the conclusion based on your comments on this thread and others that:
A: Trump is living rent free in your head.
B: You have self esteem issues regarding your “cognitive abilities.”
Yep.
Trump’s biggest challenge is the nomination, the delegate process is controlled by the GOPe. Hopefully he has planned for it and has his people in place.
He will destroy Hilliary. If it is Sanders that is a hard one to call.
1) Trump is promising the most conservative policies across the board.
2) He knows how to win!
3) He is killing in support, with everyone but the left.
So just do you say can win the nomination and beat Hilliary, and why can they?
And the one promising to go after epic government corruption and their costly country killing reckless policies.
