Trump Goes Mushy, Incoherent on Immigration (gee, who coulda seen this?)
Breitbart ^ | 7-30-15 | Ben Shapiro

Posted on 07/30/2015 6:02:43 PM PDT by C. Edmund Wright

Has Donald Trump made his first serious boo-boo of the campaign?

For weeks, the media have trumpeted the supposed death of the Trump campaign. First, they claimed, Trump’s campaign imploded on launch thanks to his comments about illegal immigration. Then they claimed that Trump was finished because of his slap at Senator Sen. John McCain (R-AZ)43% ’s (R-AZ) war service. But neither of those comments alienated Trump’s base – he’s maintained his seven point lead over Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker in the 2016 presidential polls, with no other candidate breaking double-digits in the polls. In fact, his original comments about illegal immigration launched his candidacy to prominence, with many Americans relieved that a major candidate had finally touched the media third rail and talked openly about illegal immigrant criminality.

Now, however, Trump may have damaged himself with the very people excited by his candidacy. Asked point blank about his immigration policy, Trump dropped the brashness and the blurting, and suddenly went completely Hillary-vague on CNN. After blathering about deporting criminal illegal immigrants – even President Obama pays lip service to this idea – Trump continued:

Just curious why are you suddenly concerned with our borders and this invasion? Your posting history seems to indicate you had little concern about this invasion prior to Trump running. But you did say a few things on Pre-Trump candidacy threads.

Did you say this?

Until we secure the border, it doesn’t make a damned bit of difference what else we say we are in favor of or not.

Did you not say this?

Feel free to enjoy the self gratification nature of your deportation fantasies. They are NEVER EVER EVER going to happen for a lot of reasons.

you lie

What lie is the eddy?

“Secure the border. Reduce the number of border-jumpers to effectively zero. Enforce the law.”

It’s not cheep labor that they want. It’s voters.
They, both democrats and republicans, need
more ignorant voters to offset the middle class conservatives,
that is the majority, that is getting tired of this fake
two part, one party system.

You're selling books on FR?☺

No, I'm making fools of people who say I'm a Yeb guy or an establishment guy. And it's kind of fun and easy. NOW, if I were selling books.....I would say go to Amazon and search WTF Rove...or I'd say go to www.TokyoRove.com or www.FireKarlRove.com and order it. Can I put you down for one?

Why does it seem you had such little concern about the borders prior to this election?

You seldom showed up to any of the border/illegal alien threads.

Why is that Eddy?

I've always said secure the border first, stop the hand outs, let e verify work it's way through the system, and immediately deport those in custody. Said it a thousand times, and you should prove otherwise or :

The truth is, immigration is a very difficult issue to solve.

BS. It's simple, but not easy.

"But you support Cruz you said. Why would Cruz find himself in such agreement with a Democrat?"

You asked me this same question last night. Forget the answer already?

What kind of IQ does it take to focus on the scoreboard before the game even starts....before the first debate, the first ad, the first anything?

....I’m thinking not a very big one.

Will you answer?

It is a trick question, unworthy of consideration. But I would point out that Reagan was a Democrat, in the same sense that Trump is, so I would have no problem with voting for a former Democrat. I would also point out that I would have no problem voting for anyone of any political loyalty, if said candidate had the ability and will to neuter the media, and eliminate the upper echelons of the Republican party. So I will play your little game. I will vote for any candidate who can unite the public in a pogrom against the DC cartel, and who ALSO has clearly won the admiration of the few Republicans that I admire (Cruz, Palin, West, etc.).

So, turn-about being fair play and all, answer my question: vote for someone who can and will destroy the DC cartel, or put your support elsewhere so you can feel better about yourself?

There never was an answer. If you support Cruz yet you claim Trump is a Democrat which is it? Is Cruz a stupid dupe or are you denying they are allies?

That’s not right. Jeb sucks no doubt. But some folks know
the GOPe is going to choose for us who to vote for. And
they know they have to change peoples minds about the
“special needs son” or we will most likely end up with a
Hillary for president. Can’t blame them for that.

" Trump is not wired for failure. He is truly a WINNER!"

Conservativejoy...aaaagh, don't you realize how that sounds?

You're not talking about a superhero, or about Jesus Christ. Every human being fails. Trump has had bankruptcies, has he not? Some of the greatest lessons are learned through failure.

Right up your alley, then. Throw in a descriptor like "must have huge, but very unwarranted ego, no real intelligence (or must hide intelligence well beneath a veneer of idiocy)", and the job is yours.

Anyone?

The cost of enforcement. You're going to have a black market in labor as long as they are here. So you're going to have to have investigations, prosecutions, court hearings, and then you still have to deport them. Paying them $x is one way to get them to self-deport without a lot of enforcement action.

We are going to have to enforce the law regardless. We must deport people who violate our immigration laws now and in the future. Deportations will continue. And what about the estimated 2 million criminal aliens roaming our streets, one million of whom have been ordered deported already? Will you pay them?

The black market in labor has a corrupting influence on the market. If your competitor is using cheaper illegal labor and the enforcement is not fast or sufficient to deter them, then you're out of business, unless you do likewise.

The attraction for using illegal aliens will continue unless you start penalizing employers and making e-verify mandatory.

To get the cash, they have to submit to having biometric data taken, making it easier to identify them if they enter the country illegally again.

What is the incentive to do that? Certainly criminal aliens will not subject themselves to that.

Severe penalties for re-entering the country is more palatable if they received a cash payment for exiting. Self-deportation reduces their numbers quickly, making protests less likely and less volatile. So that when you do have to get tougher on deportation, it's a little easier.

We already have severe penalties if you enter again. Currently, it is a felony with two years in jail and then deportation. That is US code.

You can increase self-deportation by enforcing our existing laws and leveraging state and local law enforcement. Cut off the job magnet and welfare payments and you will have self-deportation like was the case in AZ when they required mandatory e-verify that was upheld by SCOTUS. We also need to stop birthright citizenship. 300,000 children are born annually to illegal aliens annually. They become citizens eligible for food stamps, Medicaid, and other welfare payments.

A quick cash payment may incent some of the sponges and criminal element to self deport. Hopefully they'll underestimate how much harder it will be to get back in, and go for the quick cash.

How much will the incentives be compared to what they get now. Unless we have increased interior enforcement, nothing will happen. 40% of the lawbreakers came here legally and overstayed their visas. A fence won't stop them. When do you stop paying people to leave and start enforcing the law? New illegal aliens enter every day.

Making life miserable for them is not going to set well with everyone. If you're not careful, you'll put them out of a job and into the food stamp line. Or you'll see an increase in crime.

Totally bogus. If enforcing our laws is considered to be bad because it won't "set well with everyone," then we have lost this country. The Rule of Law no longer exists. The lawbreakers are not entitled to food stamps, only their US born children. As far as an increase in crime is concerned, then I guess we should not enforce any of our laws because we just get an increase in crime.

You have also failed to note that we bring in 1.1 million LEGAL PERMANENT IMMIGRANTS A YEAR, 30 million since 1990. They compete against Americans for jobs and depress wages. We have a surplus of labor.

“I don’t like Cruz’s H1B visas increase but at least it isn’t this Trump shell game amnesty.”

Well at least we are getting a more educated immigrant that
most likely will contribute to generating wealth rather than
being on the dole.

Trump on CNN Talking Immigration:

"We have to bring great people into this country, okay? And I want to bring — I love the idea of immigration, but it’s got to be legal immigration. Now, a lot of these people are helping us, whether it’s the grapes, or whether it’s jobs, and sometimes it’s jobs, in all fairness, I love our country, but sometimes it’s jobs that a citizen of the United States doesn’t want to do. I mean, there are jobs that a lot of people don’t want to do. I want to move them out, and we’re going to move them back in, and let them be legal, but they have to be in here legally.…Otherwise, you don’t have a country. You don’t have a country, if people can just pour into the country illegally, you don’t have a country, but I would expedite the system.
.....
We’re going to do something. I’ve been giving it so much thought, you know you have a — on a humanitarian basis, you have a lot of deep thought going into this, believe me. I actually have a big heart.…I mean, a lot of people don’t understand that, but the DREAMers, it’s a tough situation, we’re going to do something, and one of the things we’re going to do is expedite — when somebody’s terrific, we want them back here, but they have to be legally…They’re with their parents, it depends. But, look, it sounds cold, and it sounds hard. But, we have a country, our country’s going to hell. We have to have a system where people are legally in our country.”
