Hillary Clinton Lays Out Climate Change Plan

DES MOINES — Setting ambitious goals for producing energy from the sun, wind and other renewable sources, Hillary Rodham Clinton seized on an issue Monday that increasingly resonates with Democratic voters and sets up a stark contrast with the Republican presidential field.

With many Republican candidates saying they do not believe that climate change is a threat or requires government intervention, Mrs. Clinton assailed their logic, saying, “The reality of climate change is unforgiving no matter what the deniers say.”

She set a goal to produce 33 percent of the nation’s electricity from renewable sources by 2027, up from 7 percent today — a higher goal than the 20 percent that President Obama has called for by 2030.

Mrs. Clinton’s strategists see climate change as a winning issue for 2016. They believe it is a cause she can advance to win over deep-pocketed donors and liberal activists in the nominating campaign, where she is facing Democratic challengers to her left on the issue. It is also one that can be a weapon against Republicans in a general election. Polls show that a majority of voters support candidates who pledge policy action on the warming climate. . .

Local non-leaseholders here in central IN have seen a 25-40% decrease in property value after the 500' tall monuments to Gaia went in.

A second farm planned for our area died when the Zoning Board forced the foreign owned developer to provide a Property Value Guarantee. They contended there were never, ever any instances of property value loss anywhere Industrial Wind turbines were sited, but they sure packed up when they were told to stand by that claim.

Actually, they do have immersion heaters in the oil at least the ones in cold climes... On a decent sized wind turbine, the gearbox will take about 80 to 100 gallons of oil and it has to be changed every 6 months to a year. Gearboxes have been a very serious reliability weak link... you might have seen pictures with them on fire. The bearings in the gearboxes are very highly loaded as one would expect to both the radial and thrust loads. Did I mention that these things are a total disaster?

Of course they do.... IWTs (industrial wind turbines) don't run on wind.... they run on deep deep rich subsidies and yes, it seems that it's always the same players at the trough.

One of the first steps the Ontario government took when they pursued this path of wind power was they took the power away from the municipalities to say no to IWTs...sad to say but there is no zoning issue on the table to deal with. Literally, all person and municipal rights have been stripped away.

IN has done this to municipalities over fossil fuel production. It only takes one more step to keep that local power from having a say on wind.

What was truly dissapointing, was that none of our state and federal elected officeholders would lift a finger to help us stop them. “Local Issue”, they all said.

Problem was, Big Blow rolls into town and steamrolls the rubes with big promises, “helping” the locals write the wind ordinances.

In our case, one of the commissioners was to directly benefit from leases on his family farm. He’s the only pro-wind elected official now left in the county. His term comes up next year. The rest got primaried out of a job.

Oh...BTW....they were all Republicans. But despite the families torn apart over the battle, many friends and allies were made across the political aisle in opposition to irresponsible local government.

If I were to make a list of the things America does NOT need, a president who is deluded enough to think they can change the weather would probably be somewhere near the top.

One can only wish that those who think that wind is a good idea look at jurisdictions like yours to see what the history is... the jobs that were promised that turned out to be virtually nothing, the way that complete neighbourhoods are torn apart and people never speak to each other again, the politicians who benefit from leases, the destruction of property values.... and on and on it goes. There are some fabulous anti-wind documentaries out there that should be mandatory viewing for the people of every municipalities where wind is a threat just so they know the ride to hell they are in for.
