Scott Walkers budget reforms in Wisconsin are one of modern conservatisms greatest success stories. So why would Donald Trump attack them? Because 1) he is not a Republican, and 2) he is not a conservative. Trump went after Walker yesterday:
Wisconsin is in turmoil, Trump told a boisterous crowd at a rally in Iowa. He pointed to the states roads, schools and hospitals, which he said were all a disaster.
This is the kind of smear the Democrats perpetrate against Walker, but why would any Republican join them? This, too, is straight out of the left-wing playbook:
A guy like Bush, a guy like Walker, are controlled by the people who give them money, Trump said. They will be bombarded by their lobbyists who donated a lot.
Notice that Trump says nothing about Hillary Clinton being beholden to Wall Street donors, the baby-parts lobby, and so on. Why would any Republican parrot the Democrats attacks on his fellow Republicans? I dont think any Republican would, but Trump admits he is no Republican. This was perhaps his most revealing comment:
The other guys running, the Republicans they protect each other, Trump said early in his speech. Me, I dont care.
So the other guys running are the Republicans. Not Trump. Hes no Republican, by his own acknowledgement. Nor is he a conservative.
Some believe that Trump is an agent of the Clintons, and his end game is a third party candidacy that will deliver the White House to Hillary, the candidate he has long supported. This may be plausible, given Trumps history (including, but not limited to, his eight years as a registered Democrat) and the manner in which he mimics Hillarys attacks on Republicans. I think it more likely that Trump is acting independently for his own ego gratification. But if he does run as a third-party candidate, his motives wont matter. To the extent that he fools voters into thinking that he is a conservative, he will increase the likelihood of another four years of the Obama-Clinton disaster.
Walker was for amnesty before he was against it. (see his record as a county executive)
What has Walker done about the Sanctuary cities in his own state?
If somebody doesn’t bust up the beltway cartel the GOP is going to lose in 2016. That cake is already baked. If Trump isn’t the status quo disruptor, who is? All the other candidates save maybe Cruz and Paul have been playing the loser GOP POTUS template campaign. Trump is saving the party from itself, IMO.
Even if you don’t support Trump now is not the time to attack him, FRiend. He’s doing conservatives a great favor shining a light on the beltway cockroaches. Right now we need to ride the Trump wave instead of distracting from it.
Oh, he did donate to Hillary!, and a whole bunch of other Democrats.
Those of us who have listened to an interview or two of Trump know the reasons behind those donations.
We also understand how that picture of Trump and the Clintons came to be, and why it’s not the big negative his detractors think it is.
Is a conservative someone who as a full adult - while in his sixties - supported abortion, supported gun control, supported Hillary, Reid, and Pelosi, supported taking people’s property through eminent domain to enrich himself, and was a member of the Democrat Party and then flipped to being a “conservative” so he could run for president, is that a conservative?
And abortion and gun control...turn another blind eye?
So I haven't been the only one to notice the early established RINOs in our midst?
Illegal Alien Crime Wave in Texas: 611,234 Crimes, 2,993 Murders
We were talking about you being uninformed, that also extends to your ill perceived views on those two issues.
How about, because it's the truth...In case no one has noticed, Trump is running against the other Republicans...Why would he not point out their failures???
I’ve never said that Trump is the ideal candidate, there are many positions he’s taken and things he’s done that I don’t care for.
My reason for posting in this thread was to take issue with Hinderaker’s blatant misreading of Trump’s statement.
As always seems to be the case, since I am in a late primary state, my primary vote is meaningless. For the record, I would prefer Cruz to be the nominee.
I will vote for/against/abstain depending on who the nominee ends up being, and I have no idea right now who that will be.
That was good.
Who is “we?” Do you have a mouse in your pocket?
When he attacks Republicans from the left, with the talking points of the party he was recently in, does that matter to you? When he supported abortion, gun control, eminent domain to steal the property of ordinary Americans, and Hillary Clinton, does that matter to you?
OK, I thought you and I formed a we.
Obviously, even you consider yourself a nobody, and I should have used ‘I’.
No, I believe I have a normal self-respect and a normal self-esteem. But I have noticed that Trump’s Chumps tend to insult those who don’t back Trump, which is, after all, another similarity to Obumer.
Ya, but not quite as much as all of his opponents who are working towards a one world gov't and the demise of the sovereignty of our great Nation...
When he supported abortion, gun control, eminent domain to steal the property of ordinary Americans, and Hillary Clinton, does that matter to you?
And we were never discussing the weird accusation you made. You simply asserted a meritless insult about me and you thought we were discussing it the gratuitous insult.
When he supported abortion, gun control, eminent domain to steal the property of ordinary Americans, and Hillary Clinton, does that matter to you?
It matters a lot more that deportable criminal aliens are murdering, raping and robbing Americans by the thousands while my “representatives”, the beltway GOP, stand silently while we are assaulted.
These are historic times. We don’t need bystanders to history. Whatever conservatives have done politically recently is not working. Progressives have complete control of both parties and top cover from the MSM. Time for Plan B or we’ll lose, again.
Surely Cruz can work more than one issue and be a better candidate than Trump.
