Surprise! There’s Been Another Mass Shooting In A Gun-Free Zone

A mentally ill gunman killed two and injured at least seven more people before taking his own life at a crowded movie theater in Lafayette, Louisiana, late Thursday night. As seems to always happen within minutes of these types of shootings being reported, the gun control crowd immediately moved to politicize the incident:

Rachel Zarrell, the author of the “don’t pray” tweet above, is a news editor for BuzzFeed. Luke O’Neil, who displayed his anti-gun violence bona fides by pining for the mass murder of all gun owners, is a Boston-based journalist who’s written for publications such as Slate, the Boston Globe, and Esquire.

Interestingly enough, the mass shooting happened in precisely the type of environment demanded by journalist gun controllers like Zarrell and O’Neil: a gun-free zone. That’s right. The Grand 16 Theater in Lafayette is a gun-free zone that explicitly bans the possession of any and all firearms, concealed or otherwise, on its premises:

According to the conduct policy on the movie theater’s website, the theater prohibits “[p]ossession of firearms or weapons of any kind regardless of whether openly or concealed, with or without a permit[.]”

While some states do not treat “no guns” or “gun-free zones” as having the force of law, Louisiana does. If a property owner in Louisiana places a sign on the property stating that firearms are prohibited, then they are prohibited. (In many states, a gun-free zone sign is not sufficient to prohibit firearms on private property. Instead, the owner of the manager of the premises must ask an individual lawfully carrying a gun on the property to leave; the individual is only considered to be in violation of the law if he or she refuses that request.)

My wife and I were talking the other night and we both noticed how many more shootings have occurred since The One took office, especially in this last term, the country has really one to hell. We both agree he’s created The Perfect Storm to bring about these acts of violence but no one in the media ever brings that point up. The U.S. has gone looney tunes and no one talks about the reasons why. They all want to just make it about disarmament.

Freedom is not free. The right to bear arms means that such things happen. Instead of running Christianity out of the public square, which Democrat leftists have done, it is better to promote it and improve the morality of the people (I say that is promoting the general welfare).

But imagine the carnage of murder that would befall our nation if gun control succeeds: just like Lenin, just like Stalin, just like Hitler and just like Mao.

So, President Obama, are you an aspiring murderer? Seems to me you have done quite a lot of it already.

But, the gays keep saying that the owner’s beliefs do not matter if the customer wants something different. They say that, “if you aren’t willing accommodate EVERYONE, then you need to go out of business.”

Gun free zones? They can be ignored without major problem (arrest) in most businesses like theatres. Of course, if a concealed sidearm is inadvertently seen in a “gun free zone,” a possible 911 caller may well say,”A lunatic with a gun is here, and he is going to shoot people.”

I used to carry a 380 in hot weather (which is most of the year in FL), but when SigSauer released the P290RS, I upgraded.

MENTAL CASE. Should have been institutionalized permanently. Meanwhile no one mentions the fact that the ‘Evil Gun’ he used shot NO ONE after he dropped it. Inanimate objects are tools. Evil people are criminals.

This is not about guns, or who is carrying, or gun control. This man, like almost every other recent mass-murdering perp, has a history of mental illness.

As long as we respect the freedom of the mentally ill more than we respect the safety of our population, this is going to continue to happen. Current law prevents pre-emptive action. We refuse to lock up a homicidal mental patient until after the deed is done.

Removing all guns will not address the issue. They’ll just use explosives. The Columbine perps had explosives ready, James Holmes rigged his apartment to blow up, look at what McVeigh did with a truckload of fertilizer.

Would you rather be taken out by a gun or a suicide bomber?

This is a mental health problem, one our society does not want to discuss.

This is the exact reason liberals erect gun-free zones. They need a certain level of violence, so they create the situation so they can ban guns.
