One of the casualties of the Civil Rights Movement, although not enumerated in the Constitution by name, was freedom of association. One of those probably covered by the 9th and 10th Amendments, and ignored by our legal establishment.

“Frankly, I don’t care who marries who,”

The choice is between anarchy and civilization. Marriage= one man, one woman= civilization. The other options are simply barbarism by another name. Our courts chose barbarism.

I don't think it is a choice between civilization or barbarism as much as the ruling was bad law pure and simple. Civilization will go on no matter what in one form or another barring something like an atomic war or some form of collapse, which can happen. I think the ruling was bad because something like this should be left to the State and/or people themselves.
