There was a story going around among the major commercial contractors in New York City back when he was building one of his towers in Midtown Manhattan. The story is that the contractor's project superintendent got a call one morning from Donald Trump himself. The conversation went something like this:
Trump: "You have to rip out the second balcony from the left up on the 17th floor, and re-do it. I saw from across the street when I was walking past the site this morning, and it's not level."
Superintendent: "Of course it's level. But I'll go out there and check it out for you."
Trump: "I'm telling you -- it's not level. You have to rebuild that thing."
The guy went out there and eyed the balcony from street level, and it looked perfectly fine to him. He then went up to the 17th floor and examined it closely with a level, and it was out of the correct alignment by something like 1/4 of an inch on a balcony that was 20+ feet wide. If the balcony was made of glass and you put a marble on it, it wouldn't even have rolled a fraction of an inch in any direction.
WTF? LOL.
So Trump was right. And he was paying for it.
