He knew he was selling poison? If that’s true, he deserves life.

He knowingly shipped food that was poisoned knowing that it could kill people. He killed nine people. he should spend the rest of his life in prison.

Okay. If he sold it knowing it was contaminated, the it seems like a fair sentence to me.

Completely avoidable by roasting the peanuts according to spec. This guy cut corners big time.
http://www.nutritionalanarchy.com/2014/08/13/heres-why-and-how-you-should-make-your-own-peanut-butter/
Peanut producers use roasters to kill any Salmonella that might be lingering on raw peanuts, but the process requires roasting at a high enough temperature for a long enough time. Gray discovered that Peanut Corp. was not following the correct protocol instead of monitoring the roasting process, they simply relied on the peanuts turning a certain color.

After a seven-week trial, Parnell and his brother, food broker Michael Parnell, were both charged with 76 federal counts linked to intentionally shipping peanut products that tested positive for salmonella, CNN reports. Why were they charged after the trial?
Or is it simply a reporter that cannot write worth a hoot?

I had a bout of salmonella poisoning a couple of years ago, though it wasn’t from peanuts. It wasn’t fun. I can see how it could kill people who are not really healthy to begin with.
If he knew his stuff was tainted, life in prison is too good for him.

so did he sell peanuts that were KNOWN to have salmonella contamination?
or did he just sell peanuts that they knew had not been roasted to a high enough temperature to ensure that any possible salmonella contamination would be neutralized?
because these are not the same things.
