Senate Majority Leader Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is coming under fire from his home state colleague, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) a GOP presidential candidateas well, not just from Pauls 2016 rival Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX).
Paul tried to get the floor to stand up and offer an amendment to defund Planned Parenthood and another one to arm servicemen and women on military bases. He intended to offer these measures as amendments to the highway bill that is currently on the Senate floor. Whoever was presiding over the floor refused to recognize Paul to offer his amendments.
Paul has been speaking out on both of these subjects for quite some time, and since the Senate is now taking up what is considered a must pass piece of legislation, funding the countrys highway and mass transit systemsa massive bill that spends hundreds of billions of dollars over the next 10 yearsits an opportunity for senators to get things onto it that can further whatever their agenda might be. Of course, as Cruz has exposed all day Friday, McConnell has used the bill to reauthorize the crony capitalist Export Import Bank. But McConnell is blocking using it to defund Planned Parenthood or to block sanctuary cities or to arm military officers on base.
Senate leaders instead of using that as a vehicle to fight for the unborn and for gun rights to protect our soldiers, instead used a maneuver now Senate Minority Leader Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) made common called filling the tree wherein they blocked all other amendments including Pauls planned amendments.
Sources in the U.S. Senate tell Breitbart News, however, that Paul isnt taking this lying down.

“Cruz and Paul have been doing this right along. And yes its nice to see Trump doing it also”
Well, Cruz has, but let’s not forget that Rand Paul wholeheartedly supported Mitch McConnell in his re-election bid last year when there was a viable primary challenger in KY. He could have at least remained neutral the way Cruz did when Cornyn, the senior senator from TX faced a primary challenger last year.
Paul has far less credibility on these issues after playing ball with the leadership, but it’s nice to see him doing the right things now.
“Ive never been a fan of scorched-earth politics but Im beginning to believe that its an idea whose time has come.”
Oh hell, they haven’t even started the kindling yet. It’s 20 years late. Better late than never, I guess.
Bevin turned out to be a democrat butt kisser. I think it was a miscalculation on Rands part thinking he could get a quid pro quo from the likes of McConnell. I think he’s wised up since.
Revenge is a dish best served cold.
So many of us are celebrating watching Planned Parenthood being brought down finally, but we must not forget there are many women out there having had abortions that are watching these videos and most probably hurting inside as to what they did. Prayers need to be offered up for these women.
Has MM responded to Cruz yet?
I don’t think he has the guts to defend himself.
It’s not going to pass.
But thanks for trying.

I agree. Rand let himself get coopted by McConnell. I hope today’s happenings indicate he has had a stomachful of McConnell and is now breaking away.
So Rand, how’s that deal you made with McConnell last year working out?
Ted Cruz has been standing up to Senate leadersship since he came to the Senate in 2012. He wrote a book about a year ago that just came out a few months ago in which he outlines this. Not to take anything away from the Trump, but don’t take anything away from Cruz either. He’s been in this fight a while now.
I’m trying real hard not to hate McConnell an Boehner.
Well Rand made a corrupt deal with Mitch-—in exchange for support against Bevin, Mitch would help Paul in his presidential campaign. And so of course, Mitch beats Bevin and then Grimes, and so he does not need Rand anymore, and kicks him out of bed. Must suck feeling the sting of betrayal. Welcome to the party, Rand!
The way to de-fund it was to leave it out of the budget. If they were serious about de-funding, thats how you do it.
As it is, this sounds like a show-vote that would be simply vetoed by the president. Or am I wrong?
But how many millionaires have those corrupt governments produced ?
They think they are coming to the US of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. Just like I thought went I moved to California a couple of decades ago. That California and that US are long gone.
Which is why I was (and still am) all Cruz. I know. I just didn’t have a lot of hope that cruz could avoid being Palinized. The libs I talked to wrinkled their faces up at my mentioning him. They considered him a crazy religious fanatic. In fact, while waiting for my son to have his hair cut, I actually picked up the Advocate to see what gay politics looked like today —— far leftist, there, now you don’t have to pick up the magazine, you’re welcome... -— and an article called him “anti-gay Ted Cruz.” Sheesh.
Not as many as ours has to be sure, but our economy is monstrous as compared to theirs.
I knew that would come back a bite Paul. Other then endorse McConnell very early, Paul did nothing to help McConnell in the Ky primary. And when Paul endorsed Mitch, Mitch did not have a primary opponent. As a Senator Paul has been very good, in fact better then Cruz on important votes like TPA and reauthorizing the Patriot Act.
