The Republican Partys donors have a brand new idea: lets boycott those we disagree with! Will they never learn?

This means that those other candidates and the Republican Partys leadership have to be smart about the way they deal with Trump. The best strategy is to take him seriously. Yes, even when hes bullying everybody else and saying outrageous things about them.
You see, Trumps current popularity isnt about him, but about conservative anger. Conservative voters are pissed beyond measure: they feel ignored by their party, they believe amnesty for illegal aliens is all but a done deal, and theyre angrier than heck about it. Who can blame them? I know I dont.
Instead of vilifying Trump, other Republicans have to make clear that they understand conservatives anger and concerns. They have to start talking about the issues he has raised illegal immigration and the crime related to it, first and foremost. Thats why I was glad to see that Senator Ted Cruz did exactly that:

Great, but sadly a large part of the GOPs donor class and establishment dont quite understand this:
Many national Republican officials are increasingly resigned to Mr. Trumps looming presence. At a meeting of the Republican Governors Association this week in Aspen, Colo., donors and operatives mused about how to prevent him from hijacking the debate.

Man, is that a juvenile idea.
Dangerous, too. Trump can rightfully say they are cowards who cannot defend themselves or their ideas in a debate, much less defend this country.
Empty podiums do not win debates.
Its not the key board, its me, CRUS= CRUZ
You can easily Google his large donors on-line. Or read about them in the Wall Street Journal.
CRUZ would do the same thing, so what are they going to do, bar CRUZ also.
HAAAAHAAAAAAHAAAAAAA!!!!!!!
Trump is going nowhere, don't worry about it...people love his style because he is not afraid to say exactly what he means and to whoever is there to listen. As time goes by, one of the frontrunners (Walker) will edge forward and get the backing of the party and voters.
Oh, surely they would love to but they as yet haven’t been able to paint CRuz as a clown or jackass or whacko bird and they certainly haven’t been able to as yet paint him as an illegitimate candidate. But for sure, at the debates there will be some Candy Crowlyesque dirty tricks to try and trap him or trip him up but they will not be successful at that.
You nailed it, Skeeter. Anyone needing confirmation that Walker is still pro Amnesty. the fact that he keeps smooching up to Rubio ought to give you a clue.
“Instead of vilifying Trump, other Republicans have to make clear that they understand conservatives anger and concerns. They have to start talking about the issues he has raised “
Good luck with that. No one is going to believe their (phony) election time conversions. Trump made it his issue when no one else wanted to.
I misread the intent of your post and you are straightening out my misunderstanding?
Is it too late for me to plead the fifth?
Of all the arrogant positions to take. If there was any doubt that the GOP does not care what the voters think, but are bought and paid for, this should settle the issue.
Trump is working off of an old playbook that he found:
“Carry the battle to them. Don’t let them bring it to you. Put them on the defensive and don’t ever apologize for anything.”
“I never did give anybody hell. I just told the truth and they thought it was hell.”
Harry S Truman
agree with you, let them all boycott the debates, less BS to listen to..Cruz, Trump and maybe Walker, the rest are idiots..
Remind me how Odumbo ‘ s are better, or how there is ANY chance of a decent justice coming from ANY Dem.
I wouldnt vote for those 3 clowns anyway. Would much rather Trump have the floor.
Hey GOPe ? I haven’t given to the R.N.C in years ! FUGOPe !
GOPe “ It’s my party and I’ll cry and pout if I want to “
FUGOPe !
How many more backfire *tactics* do you suppose the GOPe will use?
