I suggest the Democrats be given the Northeast states and the three states on the West coast to do with as they please.
Conservatives keep the old Confederate states and what’s left over, building a high wall and a deep moat around everything.
After 10-years, look and see who is thriving and who is not.
So other the than the relatively few Gulf ports, we would have no shipping ports? Did you really think the through?

Unfortunately it wouldn’t be the south that is most economically strong. It would be the mid west except Illinois and Michigan. The South would be good if it would stop taking the federal welfare money that they do. At least stop taking more then they give. The Northeast pays more to employees but cost of living it is a bit more.

Actually, the Democrats in Connecticut are under heavy pressure from the voters. If the GOP manages to find decent candidates, they could win. The main problem is that the party is controlled by the country-club set, and the candidates are all billionaire businessmen.
65 years ago Democrats started taking over the wealthiest areas of the country. The Midwest and South was poor as dirt. Now look at it. Almost on par with some excelling over them.
Hell, look at what they did to Detroit and how rich it was.
