Donald Trump knows how to hit his cue.
On Friday, the Huffington Post announced that it would no longer cover Mr. Trump as part of its 2016 GOP presidential primary coverage. Instead, it was moving him to the entertainment section.
Trumps campaign is a sideshow, the liberal news outlet said. We wont take the bait. If you are interested in what The Donald has to say, youll find it next to our stories on the Kardashians and The Bachelorette.
The following day, the reality TV star jumped the shark with another outlandish statement designed to attract media attention an attack on Sen. John McCains war heroism. Hes not a war hero, Mr. Trump said. He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who werent captured.
The incident has sparked universal outrage. It shouldnt. Trump for President is a midsummer special that fills the void while serious presidential contenders are on summer hiatus. The next president is busy raising money and building a grass-roots operation, not seeking another headline.
Mr. Trumps campaign strategy is built on provoking the next headline by offending. It constantly requires him to outdo himself. Last week, it was immigrants. This week, its war heroes. Next week, single mothers. By the fall, babies, puppies and the ghost of Ronald Reagan.
What Mr. Trump is offering is not conservatism, it is Trump-ism a toxic mix of demagoguery and nonsense, Gov. Rick Perry said of the reality TV star masquerading as a GOP candidate.

Funny thing is, I never hear about it other than F. R.
They get zero hits from me.
And Jeb is a conservative?? or Rubio, or Paul, or any of the others?
Cruz, who’s probably the most conservative of the bunch has backed Trump. He understands that Trump has been very effective in forcing the media and the public to address some important conservative issues. As long as he keeps shining the spotlight on that he should be backed. No one else, not even Cruz has been able to do it like Trump.
As for him donating to democrats, like he says, he donates to everybody that he thought would help with his business. He regards most politicians as whores who can be bought and cheaply at that.
I don’t believe Trump has any strong ideological beliefs. He’s a pragmatist. He sees a problem and tries to solve it as best as he can using whatever tools are available to him. We still don’t know much about his core beliefs especially on social issues, I’m sure that will come and we’ll be able to judge him on that then.
For now he’s doing a service that no one else has been able to do, and in the process showing how to handle the vile media and the RINO’s. I say more power to him.
Who hasn't been down for breakfast since 2012-09-03 (when he was 92).
You've a gift for imagery. Where was it last? LOL!
Her husband was worthless dreck.
exactly
Has Gingrich been married 3 times ?
“Cruz/Trump 2016”
These two would really cause some “progressive” heads to explode.
It would be a great strategic and tactical move, and a lot fun to watch.
However, unless he has had a real change of heart, Trump is simply not a principled social conservative. It would be fun though.
However, while I am sure it would never happen, can you imagine a Cruz / COL West ticket.
The GOPe thought they took him out a while ago.
But he is a truly Reagan-like communicator with passion, a true conservative, with a truly deep knowledge of history and economics, highly educated, as well a proven military leader.
Being a powerful communicator, if he were given an undeniable national audience, I believe the response would be incredible.
He was snuffed out by the political (primarily the GOP) and media establishments early in his political efforts. I believe if COL West had broken through the “blackouts,” and had somehow survived the millions the GOP spent attacking and running against him, it would have been a very different story today.
The GOP was truly afraid of him. May still are.
If he were to live through it, he would also be great president on the heals of Cruz.
However, as inferred at the top, we don’t deserve him, and its highly unlikely we would see it happen.
Its just a pipe dream.
If your talking “Moore,” we’re not talking shark, we are talking sperm wale.
I mean “whale”.
Its getting late.
Setting aside your attempt to conflate TPA with TPP, Cruz announced (and probably voted so, I didn't check) his opposition to TPA, based on its added immigration positions and its reauthorization of the Ex-Im Bank. Do you follow politics?
The Donald for Prez and Ted Nugent as his VP!
Yes. Your point is, then, that that is the standard of a conservative?
Right. It wasn’t a hobby for Reagan; it was regrettable, but not wife shucking.
Just don’t get upset when he turns on us because he will; he’s at best an opportunist realizing our anger and using his considerable talents as an insulter to enflame the angry. Remember Reagan didn’t have to do that.
Maybe....but my biggest problem with them is that they are owned by the Unification Church of the late Sun Myung Moon. Never ever took them serious because of this
No wonder the writer doesn’t like Trump, he’s a member of the left wing group RNC.
Prefer West has head of defense.
Post - Leftists, RINOs and GOPe get panties in wad over “sideshow”......
Reagan also operated in a vastly different political landscape. You might as well say George Washington didn't have to do that, either.
Furthermore, there is a huge difference between "inflaming" and tapping into legitimate frustration. If Trump weren't on the level, he wouldn't be bringing up things Washington just doesn't want to talk about.
